"Eric Danton Review"

Other standout tracks include the grittier "Born on Third Base" by Ardie "Cuban Cohiba" Wallace, who is branching out from his primary gig promoting local reggae concerts. The song features horns and Auto-Tuned vocals. His other song on the compilation, "Enuf Is Enough," features Wallace singing politically conscious lyrics in a gruff voice, accompanied by swells of bass and an ominous chiming bell. - Hartford Courant

A self-distributed demo album
plus 2 songs on the Capsicum Records Reggae-In-Fusion,and now for 2011 will be the release of a new album of the same name of his hit single--thin line--cuban cohiba is one of the most sort after reggae act out their on the market with the dis-n-dat band featuring

rango the drummer who plays on many black uhuru tunes and on atlease one of their grammy winning albums, plus rango was also the drummer for the late sugar minott, rango and dis-n dat band went on to backing up artist like

anthony-b--coco tea--panto banton-mikey spice-glen washinton and more before working with ardie cuban cohiba, the thing that works best for cuban with the dis-n-dat band cuban is that cuban had made a pledge that no matter how big or how far he gets with his music,he would never let money gets in the way of him and a promotor for not geting a show done,he will works with what a promotor could afford

the reason why, ardie cuban cohiba before hiting the studios and stage as you seen in his bio was a icon award winning reggae promotor himself that put conn on the map with his hugh concerts that draws millions of tourist to that area

so massive that he was the subject of two new york time interviews and story could be found at (ardie cuban wallace) the mayor of that city and the govornor of that state gave him the key to the city, and awarded him his own day to be every october 14th along with reggae icon beres hammond who also share the stage with cuban cohiba who had just finish opening for him

cuban cohiba is the only promotor in conn who ever got a chance to work with and promote a concert with the king of reggae BOB MARLEY on his last tour coming out of vermont into hartford conn before he went to new york and fell hill that was it,today cuban still work with the marley family with ziggy and brothers from ziggy was (12) years old they still keep the bond

ardie cuban had work with reggae star peter tosh who was his best friend, dennis brown, sugar minott.gregory isaacs even in july 2010 before his passing, and any reggae artist you could think of,so you see now that ardie cuban is a reggae artist why he understand the pain a promotor goes through with over price artist and overhead expences as to why him and his band would work with promotors to keep cost down and still get the event done

Musically a “late bloomer” by artist standards, the Montego Bay, St. James, Jamaica-born “Cuban” waited until he was in his high school band before he found his true love was music.
But right after high school, he met reggae icon Toots and the Maytals and was hypnotized by the way they played. He soon met another reggae immortal, Peter Tosh, who would become his best friend and mentor. Tosh not only taught Cuban how to hold a note and how to harmonize with it, but also how to promote a show and the “business of the business.”
By the late 80s, Cuban had formed his own band as the lead singer of Rhythm Force, touring with Horace Andy, Josey Wales and others. In the early 90s, though, Cuban decided he wanted to try his hand at promoting live concerts, so he put both his band and singing on hold, working instead with every major reggae artist out of Jamaica.
Cuban single-handedly put Connecticut on the reggae concert tour map, so much so that the Mayor of Hartford proclaimed every August 15th from 2008 on to be Ardie Cuban Wallace Day and presented him with a key to the city. He’s been the subject of two major NY Times interviews, and concert promotion is what he’s been doing exclusively.
Until now.
Cuban has made up his mind to return to the studio and stage. Socially aware and politically astute, he’s recorded a demo album of original songs, some of them funny enough to rival the best stand-up routines in comedy clubs, some sad enough to break your heart in four bars, all of them a part of daily life on the streets of every urban center.
He also loves a challenge. We think he rose to it particularly well in his recording of “Born on Third Base” a puncturing look at how wealth perpetuates itself in the U.S. and around the world with social capital, and ridiculing its self-aggrandizing
notions of inherent superiority in a funky patois fusion of reggae and Mark Twain humor in the vein of American folk music icon Arlo Guthrie,
Finally, Cuban reflects his community’s helpless frustration and anguish over the senseless gun violence that plagues its streets, capturing its repetitive and numbing impact in his original fusion of dancehall reggae with an A-Kon-influenced r&b ballad feel in “Enuf Is Enough,” now a breakout smash on Jamaican
