Today I bring you a hip-hop duo Are And Be. I found them patrolling the many up-and-coming rap acts on Last.FM (which btw, you should all have by now. I owe almost 90% of my library to Last.FM). Based out of Los Angeles, Abe Thelonious and Lucky Benjamin compose this talented group. In all seriousness, these guys are pretty good, a real good find. Their lyrics are really consistent, and on some tracks they go completely off. Big upside.

This sounds very similar to what you would expect out of the new West Coast artists nowadays, but also contains a little throwback feel to it. The beats on this are pretty hot, showing a wide range from piano samples, vocalists, and everything in between. Hope to see a lot more material out of these cats in the future.

Today I present to you, Are And Be, an ill group that hails from Los Angeles, California. The group is made up of two members, Abe Thelonious and Lucky Benjamin. The two are working on a project called “Up So High,” which is definitely going to turn heads. On a sidenote, I came across the group via twitter. My friend mentioned these guys so I checked em’ out and enjoyed what they had to offer. That lead to convo’s via email and now to this post of them. I have been playing Are and Be Up So High for a while. They sent in a track previous to shooting over the EP Up So High and I wasn’t sure if they had something or if it was just another track. Shortly after Are and Be sent in Up So High which gave me a lot more to think about. I gave Up So High a few rounds of play and started grooving to it more.
