"Aric Charles and his band 3DP"

Saturday night's bill at Up or On The Rocks was a hot one, as it featured two of the newer bands on Hartford's alt-rock scene: 3 Days Prior and Dharma Brown. I first caught 3 Days Prior in a cramped club in Southington, and I liked them, but Saturday's set was absolutely stellar. On a proper stage with a good P.A., they were larger than life. Singer and guitarist Aric McNemar not only has great stage charisma and excellent pitch, but he was able to nail solo after engaging solo. The room steadily packed in more and more bodies as they played. The band's coordination was also seamless: At one point, McNemar's solo came to a screeching halt as the band ceased behind him and he held a gargantuan long note, sounding as though he were taking a running leap off a cliff. Just as the note began to fade, drummer Chuck McGrane came in with an excruciatingly slow hip-hop beat. Now that's some cinematic funk. Compared to that, Dharma Brown's - Hartford Advocate

Bio

ARIC CHARLES, a craftsman of many traits, is a Singer-Song Writer, Guitarist (both Acoustic & Lead) and a Master Luthier.

Aric’s song writing skills brings across a diverse assortment that anyone can relate and have a connection with. His writings convey life experiences, relationships, self-realizations, epiphanies, deep thoughts and self-help messages. His groovy, up-beat and sometimes funky rhythm is guaranteed to get you off your rump and on to the dance floor, as it brings you a feeling of exuberance, stimulation and joyful energy.
Although it is apparent that he was born to be a musician, Aric Charles had his first experience with an instrument at the age of twelve. As his father handed him his first guitar, teaching him basic chords and scales, Aric quickly began writing his own melodies.

Aric’s mix of rock/pop/blues/fusion, is attributed to his father, also a musician. Other influences, like Steely Dan, The Doobie Brothers and America convey a retro appeal that connects with all ages and lifestyles.

A Brief History:

Aric Charles was the front man (singer-song writer, guitar) of Three Days Prior, a Connecticut based band which was also successful in NYC. After four years (2004-2008), Aric has decided to form a NYC based band, under the name Aric Charles & 3DP.
While finalizing a twelve-song album, recorded at Long Hill studios in Shelton CT by Paul Opalack, Aric spends his spare time frequenting numerous open mics and jam sessions with a variety of local artists that he jam's with both in CT and NYC. He has also presented his unique Lead Guitar playing with local CT bands like, Ritual (Rock), House of Tabernacle (Gospel) and The Kronic (Reggae).
