ARIFA & VOICES from the EAST
Three talented female artists from 3 different cultures are joining the Arifa quartet in combining magical sounds from the Silk Road.
Their debut concert in the Bimhuis, Amsterdam- Netherlands (21-02-14) was awarded with 5 star review in the Dutch newspaper "Trouw" The concert was recorded and the live CD will be released in the autumn of 2014.Each masters a string instrument which can be traced to olden times: the erhu, kamache and gadulka, from China, Iran and Bulgaria. The unique vocal traditions practiced in these countries will be added to Arifa's instrumental timbre, complementing each other to create rich contemporary compositions, rooted in ancient sounds.
