Biography

The word Arcane is defined as: Understood or Known by few. We are ArKane. Our music has recently become lost knowledge because so many have a misunderstanding of what it is all about. Hip Hop is an art form that needs two crucial ingredients: a DJ and an Emcee. The “hip hop” heard on the radio and in the clubs is Hip Pop. It has lost that substance and outspokenness. Its lost the intelligence and the DJ that hip hop once had. There are artists and groups still making true hip-hop, but one will not see them in the mainstream scene. We are into making Mind elevating Hip Hop with a Jazz feel. Arkane formed in West Philadelphia with four members. Kevin Haug is the DJ/Producer, IB Rock is the Emcee, James Sparks is the bass guitarist, and Joe Zyske is the drummer. The group is searching the market for a suitable record label. Arkane currently has three underground albums out. All of these albums were produced with Kevin’s home studio. They will be performing at different venues around Philadelphia. They’ll be playing a small live show at City Hall to promote the new album. B-Boys (Break Dancers) and Graffiti artist will be present to show a well-rounded look at the art form of Hip Hop.
The group immediately clicked when they began collaborating. They enjoy experimenting and being innovative. Some influences are Herbie Hancock, Louis Armstrong, John Coltrane, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Gangstarr, A Tribe Called Quest, The Pharcyde, and 2pac just to name a few. They continue their path to bring true Hip Hop to many ears again and restore what has been lost. With the help from the wheels of steel and the mic in hand and a great record label they can accomplish this goal.
