Army of Birds

After 6 years, dozens of shows, a 2009 "NAMAnation" and a handful demo recordings. Army Of Birds has finally put together their first official release. Fight Or Flight EP is a 5 song adventure through Rock, Southern, and Alternative stylings. OK.. So another band in Fayetteville has a disc. What's so special about this one? Here it is: In-spite of their virtually limitless studio budget, the band was recorded live in a single afternoon. The EP contains no editing or instrument "overdubs." Each song on the disc is a single take of the entire band. The vocals we're overdubbed because of recording space limitations but, are also single takes with no Auto-tune or pitch correction. Douglas Horton from Ozark Film and Video Productions inc. Met with the band and sketched a diagram of how to set the musicians and gear in the room for the best sound. The team then went at the setup with a "get it right at the mic" approach. After a lengthy mic positioning session and a good night of rehearsal, the band set to the task of recording the EP over a weekend. It took 4 hours. Tom McFetridge, the group's lead guitarist and 14 year Ozark Film and Video engineer has spent countless hours recording "take after take" of overdubbed, tuned, "squeaky clean" tracks for other projects over the years. "We wanted to do it live because the band has a live energy to it. After all.. What good is a pristine, flawless recording if the band can't deliver in a live situation?" said Tom. Army of Birds is: Chris Shelby, Gentry Collier, David Shelby and Tom McFetridge. Army Of Birds will be playing in Northwest Arkansas a few times this summer and is in initial discussions with an international distributor from the UK.
