"How did you get started in music?"

How did you get started in music?
Seven years ago, was when I started with music. Please refer to my musical biography:

Biography-
Back in 2004, the singer/songwriter Aron Lyrd was struggling to get by and had landed a job working in the mail room for the government. Despite the low pay, there was room for advancement. Before he was able to come to his first day of, he contracted transverse myelitis, which involved swelling of the spine. He was an avid martial artist from age 7 up until he was paralyzed. At the same time, he had a stroke that came about from a blood clot that moved from his leg to his brain. Even with these two events happening, he managed to regain the usage of his arm. After all the happened, there was time available for reflection. He would ponder why all of this came about. Seeking answers was not easy, as seemed hard to find. Such tragedy does not normally occur all at the same time, as he remained perplexed, as to why it had to happen. Many of the previous years of his life, he turned to songs that he could relate to that helped him deal with the minor ups and downs of his life at the time. Being the universal language, music always seemed to inspire him to keep going, regardless of whether things looked more bleak than not. Over the time that this was happening, he became inspired to write some poetry. While it was a good means of expressing how he felt, it didn't feel like quite enough. He wrote some music to accompany it and decided to buy enough studio tome to record the songs that he felt best reflected his abilities as a musician. Once all was said and done, he completed converting of his poems into songs. More songs would follow, as further inspiration came to him over time. After listening to his songs, he liked what he heard from the finished product.

What's the basics methods when you write and made a song? I would typically write it as a poem fist. Afterward, I write and record the instrumental part of the music for it.

What plans do you have for the near future?
I have an account with RecordDeal.com . They're telling me that the record label, Universal, asked them to make a proposal of what I should get from Universal, in terms of a record deal. We're just now waiting to hear back from Universal.

How would you define your music?
It is essentially alternative rock that's inspired by past experiences in my life.

What has been the funniest moment after or during a show or tour?
I remember reciting my poetry on stage once, where the open mic host asked for not one, but two rounds of applause. To me, reciting my poetry and singing on stage resemble each other very much.

Who are your music influences?
Aerosmith, AC/DC, and KISS

Are you Ok, with the direction you're moving so far?
Yes, I am and I would be perfectly content to see a multi-album deal with Universal materialize in the immediate future.

"Wildy's World Review"

Harrisburg, Pennsylvania singer/songwriter Aron Lyrd struggles through his fifth album, Lucid Dreams, a messy musical menagerie strongly influenced by 1970's pop that is without focus. Lyrd achieves some nice moments, such as the opening track "All The Time, It Is Mine", sounding like 1970's AM radio rock with a light R&B touch. "Just Wasting Time" is a solid track; mildly catchy with solid energy. This anti-love song advises a friend to kick her current boyfriend to the curb. The deep seated implication that the narrator might be a better option is between the lines. Lyrd channels The Kinks on "The Sun Is Out", a relationship reminiscence that looks back over years. Lyrd's voice is very pleasant here.

"Orange Ambition" has potential, but the recording quality here isn't worthy of a professional release. Lyrd sounds like his vocals were recorded inside of a containment tube, and the overall low-fi quality of the recording sounds amateurish. Lyrd veers into club noise with "Get Up, Come On"; seven-and-a-half minutes of beats and noise that's more like a musical run-on sentence than a song. "Asking For Just Too Much" is a vibrant bit of dance rock that finds Lyrd sounding a bit like Escape Club. We get to hear Lyrd's falsetto voice on "Tough Day, Alright Night", a non-committal bit of dance pop that simply doesn't work. One gets the impression that Lyrd is going for a Bee Gees vibe, but it ends up sounding more like satire than a serious attempt at song. Much the same can be said about "Enter Leave Don't Take My Heart", which perhaps should have been resigned to the archives.

Aron Lyrd is very early in his development as a songwriter. The material here is perhaps meant more as a demo than a commercial release, but sometimes less is more. Focusing on four or five tracks with the most potential and making the most of them might serve Lyrd better than putting out a larger quantity of music with less care. Lyrd seems to have his eyes on the big time with a MySpace page that claims over fifteen million spins. Consequently there is no doubt about Lyrd's creativity, but Lucid Dreams is a stretch that didn't need to be made. There are however kernels here with potential. - wildysworld.blogspot.com

"Follow Through on Your Dreams"

Review of All The Time, It Is.. by Aron Lyrd

Seventies disco redux with a funky new beat? Funky styling with a rich arrangement. Clear and well driven with nice levels = good production -transparent enough to allow a review to focus on the art itself...

We have more than three chords. Great use of melody and key. Well done and inspirational, unifying topic.

Normally, I'd come down on somebody for being just over 3 min - but this is a packed three min. Break and refrain are included, with a nice use of melody and a more or less fully developed performance. Perhaps the 3 min style is the fashionable go now? I'm still a fan of a 4-5 min atmosphere - less "jingle / dog food commercial" vibe.

Look before I start comparing dog foods, lets get back on track in stating that we have: GooD mELoDy, GoOd LyriCs - as a fundamental for good writing. Then you throw the good production on top - and you get awesome stuff like this. If you want to do it right, you have to do it yourself. Its fine to dream, but you have to follow through...

Awesome. A+

"Radio friendly"

Review of Just Wasting Time by Aron Lyrd

The song starts off with a very intriguing intro. The vocals sound warm and very radio friendly. The lyrics are not bad either. The main hook is very effective (and memorable) in guiding the song through to the end. I think this song has a very high chance of radio success. Great job!

"Aron Lyrd is a One Man Band"

Redefining traditional musical formulas and blowing away the typical four piece alternative bands is just another day in the talented, vast world of Aron Lyrd. A complete one man show, Lyrd pulls off a variety of musical styles while
single-handedly writing and recording everything from guitar to percussion to vocals. While the quality would suffer for many using this approach, he manages to build a full, dynamic sound which is demanding the attention of thousands across the world.

With over 12 million plays and 32,000 fans on his MySpace page, Lyrd's songs are catching fire at the speed of light, garnering the interest of critics, magazines, and websites. He was selected by the illustrious Alec Promotions as a featured artist, and successfully received airplay on Indie 104 iRadio in Los Angeles, California. His brilliant alternative rock jams are drawing comparisons to Matchbox 20, Oasis, The Killers, and David Bowie, while fans feverishly spin his infectious songs over and over.

A story of true inspiration, the singer songwriter is no stranger to adversity. After contracting transverse myelitis in 2004, which causes swelling in the spine, and suffering a stroke from a blood clot, Lyrd was paralyzed. Through ironclad determination and arduous work, he regained the use of his arm, and started writing poetry, which eventually led to music. Fast forward to 2010, and Lyrd has rapidly become a dramatic force in the alternative and indie scenes.

Lyrd already has five albums under his belt, including Dark Metallic Mist by the Moonlight, which received an outpouring of positive reviews from fans and critics. With 50 songs available for purchase in his iTunes store, there literally is something for nearly every music lover who's searching for the next breakout artist.

"Great song!!!"

Verse is a hook right off the bat. Great hook there. The chorus contrasts well with it's longer held out. The second verse variation going up is a good moment. The melodies do an excellent job of creating a wistful, earnest aura.

The harmonies between the male and female vocals are really nice. They blend really well together.

As far as arrangement goes, Im glad you guys spend so much time on the verse because that's such a cool part, but it would be nice to hear a different section in there to break it up a little. If that was the right part, it would really put this song over the top for me.

Im probably not the best person to comment on who you sound like since my knowledge on bands is pretty limited, but I would say your male vocalist sounds like the singer/keyboard player from the White Rabbits. It's different styles, but it's what came to mind. I like his voice a lot.
As far as the guitar, nothing really popped out at me. It introduces the chorus and that's about it. That's probably all it needs to do though.

All in all, I was really draw in. You're verse is the best verse I've heard on Garageband yet. Awesome work!

"Junior's Cave Online Magazine: Aron Lyrd Featured Interview"

Isaac: When and how did you first become interested in music?

Aron Lyrd: When I first became paralyzed 6 years ago I started writing poetry. That led to my putting music to it.

Isaac: How long have you been playing music?

Aron Lyrd: I've been playing music for six years, so far.

Isaac: Who would you say are your biggest musical influences and why?

Aron Lyrd: Some of my biggest influences are Aerosmith and AC/DC. Aerosmith were able to get over their addictions to street drugs and prolong their careers. AC/DC was able to keep the rest of their band together for decades, even after their original lead singer, Bon Scott, died of alcohol poisoning. Both bands were able to triumph over adversity, which serves to inspire me.

Isaac: What has been the greatest highpoint in your career so far?

Aron Lyrd: I would have to say looking at my MySpace Music Page, http://www.myspace.com/aronlyrdmusic and seeing that it hit the 12,000,000 plays mark just last month, after my new page having been made only this past November 1, 2009 to replace my old one that I deleted to make way for this new upgraded one. I had kinnerdesign.co.uk make this new one to give it a more professional looking feel. This statistic really tells me that music fans out there are listening to my songs.

Isaac: What has been the greatest disappointment in your career so far?

Aron Lyrd: I would having to go this long and not getting signed to any type of major record label. They do say that the entertainment industry is one of great uncertainty. It feels like the millions of plays come both as the highpoint and a disappointment. What is disappointing about them, is that they've proven inadequate for me to be offered a record contract with a major label. Ultimately, any musician should play their music primarily, due to that the enjoy doing it. I just can't get past that I could be 95 someday and occasionally ponder what kind of music career that I could have had, if only I were signed... Well, that's not to say that I never will be. It is just that when a person becomes very old someday, they can't help but wonder about what could have been. I only hope that is not me someday, so that I am still left with few, if any regrets.

Isaac: What did you learn from that experience?

Aron Lyrd: Basically, what I just touched on. Something like playing music is best to be done based on that the person doing it finds contentment in it.

Isaac: What draws you to want to play the type of music that you do?

Aron Lyrd: I would say that my lyrics come from past experiences. Alternative Rock is at sort of a mid ground between your bubble gum pop singers and hoarse shouting hard core heavy metal. It serves to help me feel a sense of balance too.

Isaac: What do you feel it takes to play this type of music that you play?

Aron Lyrd: To me, you really have to have a story behind you. Anybody can start writing music about anything, albeit it is that spark of inspiration that drives somebody to put their heart and soul into their work. That's what led me to put ten of my poems to music, which, as the end result, became my first album. http://bit.ly/d7HFq1

Isaac: What do you think you will create that will make your performances and who you are stand out in the music industry?

Aron Lyrd: I hope that I can rise above all of the commercialism out there and just really define myself as a musician, a poet, and as a person to the whole music scene. Basically, as they say, all publicity is good publicity for publicity's sake. When Alice Cooper killed a chicken on stage, that's basically how he got discovered. I want to do it a different way.

Isaac: If you had the opportunity to do one cover, what cover would you do and why?

Aron Lyrd: I would do Sweet Emotion by Aerosmith. For one thing, they're my favorite band and I've gotten to see them play live twice. Secondly, it would be meant as a tribute to them for all of their achievements in music.

Isaac: How would you put your own spin on this cover?

Aron Lyrd: I would apply some more mid tempo tenor sound to the song to slow it down a bit and make certain parts of it a little faster as well. Also, I would use a synthesizer for the opening part of the song to capture an almost robotic sounding voice during the opening of it that would be unique to my cover of the song. You know, when Steven Tyler first says "Sweet Emotion" in a more drawn out way at the beginning of the song. That's where I mean.

Isaac: What does it take to be a good songwriter?

Aron Lyrd: Essentially, it is the trends in popular culture at any given time that decides what is good or not. Although, it boils down to writing about things that inspire you. Things that you really feel passionate about. You can still be proficient at writing, whether or not you're conforming to the ideals of society.

Isaac: How difficult is it to juggle music, family and work obligation, and li - Junior's Cave Online Magazine http://www.juniorscave.com/

These sounded great and my expectations were far surpassed. I was going to try out one of the MP3s, but I decided to ahead with buying the whole album. I play it on my way to work everyday. In the evening, I play it when I'm driving to a club or to meet up with friends somewhere. All in all, this was well worth the purchase.
