Bio

Arquettes is pop/rock with bittersweet harmony’s and interweaving synth-melodies.
The band members are Koen Wijnant (vocals, guitar), Jan Borremans (vocals, keys), Mario Govaert (drums) and a female bassplayer, Tine Gernaey.
In the end of 2005 they reached podium places in local rock contests (3th place - ‘De Beloften’ , final place - ‘Het Kampioenschap van Brussel’). Following to these early successes they released two singles ‘It’s a relief’ and ‘Feehler’ on the main national alternative radio station Studio Brussel. Towards the end of 2007 they released a mini album, for which they cooperated with producer Pascal Deweze (Metal Molly, Sukilove, …). With this EP they could arrange a nice sequence of concerts with highlights as Ancienne Belgique, Boomtown Ghent, Pukkelpop 2007 and Maanrock 2008. In the slipstream of these concerts they attended the live national television program ‘Debby & Nancy’. And they slowly discovered The Netherlands resulting in playing the international showcasefestival ZXZW in Tilburg by the end of 2008.

For the moment they are working on new songs for their debut record that will be recorded in March and released in fall 2010. They will work together with the French topproducer Stéphane “Alf” Briat. He is known as one the architects of French sound engineering by working with Air, Phoenix, Sébastien Tellier, Etienne de Crécy, Alex Gopher, Cosmo Vitelli and many others. His priority is to preserve the original and spontaneous aspects of music. And that is why he wants to personalize his work and his relations with artists in order to create a favourable climate for creation. While listening to the inventive and dynamic aspects of the music scene, Alf would rather opt for the innovative productions. No doubt this will be a killer debut!
