Bio

Arrows are a two-piece band from Guelph, Ontario. Ryan Stanley plays guitar and sings, and Jackie Stanley plays drums and sings.

Their debut album, "Knives Are Falling From The Sky," was self-recorded in one week at a remote cottage on the tip of a peninsula. It is due for release in the Fall of 2007 under the Ford Plant Recording Co. name (The Ford Plant is a not-for profit, all ages venue in Brantford, Ontario).

The duo of Arrows came to fruition in the summer of 2006, when Ryan and Jackie, both musically active since childhood, decided to try writing songs together. They succeeded, began writing, practising and playing shows extensively, and found themselves ready to record a full-length album in just a few months.

Drawing from their strongest mutual influences - late-eighties and early-nineties noise/indie rock, and a passionate disdain for the status quo - songs about escarpments, funeral homes, broken fists, and darkest mines were born. Arrows are at ease with one another, but uneasy with the world around them, and that restlessness reveals itself in their songwriting. Universal themes emerge: the emotional intensity of a relationship between two people, the degradation of efficient communities and the prevalance of urban sprawl, and humankind's discordant relationship with nature.

Alternately noisy and melodic, epic and minimalistic, the album is both an aggressive and passionate musical output, and a candid glimpse into the countercultural hearts and minds of a married couple.
