Bio

The youthful foundations of Pat Gamble and Kasey Mazur’s first project Citrus for Romeo entertained Portland crowds in all ages venues from Winter hawk games to La Luna. After other projects including Reclinerland and Box Socials they joined forces in 2003 with Jason McKelley (Blark) and Greg Ponce and Arroyo was born. Setting the stage for original creations that push the boundaries of sub-cultural genres of music, they are diversely compared to Gang of Four, Fugazi, Weezer, Jimmy Eat World and Heatmiser.

Pioneering and creative, Arroyo encompasses a post rock sound blending the social politics of punk with the grinding sound of emo. Their thoughtful lyrics and social consciousness combined with their superior musicianship shines forth in their albums and live performances.

Not only is Arroyo talented, they are one of the few bands that have a truly equal writing format. Each member is different and each member contributes equally to their songs. In addition two of them are originally from the East coast and two of them are Portland natives. The result of this multi-influence is a layered sound that has personality, depth and emotion. Their music doesn't really fall into one genre and they have the ability to share the stage with a wide array of different acts. Enjoying radio play in their hometown of Portland and abroad they have captured the imagination and hearts of those that enjoy innovative talent.

Most Recently Arroyo has been selected to showcase for "The Indie Show" a major network series focused on unsigned indie bands. In the summer of 2005 Arroyo toured with Richmond Fontaine and played to sold out crowds across the nation. In addition they have shared the stage with Portland notables Paint by Numbers, Oliver, and Stars of Track and Field and national favorites Amongst US. Their ability to play with bands of any genre lends to their marketability and appeal. Album sales and mp3 downloads from the Arroyo website {www.arroyomusic.com} have consistently increased and they enjoy a national as well as a regional following. In Spring of 2006 they will be featured on the post grunge compilation album as well as recording their second full length album.
Comprised of Pat Gamble (reclinerland), Greg Ponce (slow coach), Jason Mckelley (Blark, Dead man’s hand) and Kacy Mazur (Box Socials, kinda kinks) Arroyo is infused with diverse musical influences and experience. A band of traditions and friendship, their overall charisma makes them not only fun to hear but inspiring to watch.
