Bio

Born in Queens, New York, Arsan showed early signs of musical interest. She was influenced early on by her grandparent's love of jazz music. She hoped to join the school band and perform as a trumpet player, while her mother was convinced that the she was going to be a floutist. Arsan played the flute for a year and was able to coerce her mother into allowing her to move on to the brass section of the school orchestra. After spending another two years bouncing around instruments in the section, she decided that woodwinds might be more of a challenge. After spending a few weeks on the clarinet, it became clear that being a percussionist was what she ultimately was after. Staying within the section for the next 8 years consistently, the making of a balanced classical musician were founded.

As a kid, Arsan displayed introverted characteristics. She spent most of her out of school time preoccupied with video games and Disney movies. No doubt that her early enrollment in Montessori school, before entering the first grade, was the key to her creative development and progression. It would later prove to be crucial in the minimal amount of time that was needed to properly absorb and regurgitate certain musical material.

As she grew up, hip-hop greatly affected Arsan's life, as her former classical training would no longer satisfy her needs to discover vaious "new" sounds and techniques used in modern music. It was this new found love of modern harmonies, melodies, and word play that would lead her to begin writing and creating her own music at the age of 12 years old. She then became a fan of alternative, nu-wave, electronic, rock, and world music. She also became an avid reader of poetry.

Arsan hopes to define her music one day in its own category... "The category "other" just doesn't sound justified. You could say its alternative, you could say it's a bunch of things, and yet at the same time, it would be none of those things."

Starting out an aspiring trumpet player, Arsan never saw herself making hwe own recordings from scratch. Let alone, defining music in general. She plans to take her creative ideas and visions and "giving the best pieces of art possible. That's all I'm here to do."
