Bio

Arthi Meera's vocal-centric, stripped-down sound is likely the result of a background in North Indian classical voice and a steady diet of Britpop and shoegaze since adolescence. After years of piano lessons and an unimpressive stint with the flute, she found a good friend in the acoustic guitar when she was 19 and began writing songs. Arthi performed regularly as a student in Claremont, California, playing solo shows and opening for touring bands on campus. Upon graduating, she returned home to Chicago, hitting the open mic circuit, performing around town and touring to the east coast, continuing to grow as both a musician and songwriter. Combining her gentle pop tendencies with producer Ethan Stoller's experimental leanings, her debut album, self-released in 2006, reflects a selection of influences unique to her.
Arthi's casual collaborations with brother Anand came to fruition in 2007, when she relocated to Los Angeles to write and record with him as Fair and Kind (myspace.com/fairandkind.) She continues to work with the band on a full-length, while writing material for a second solo album.
