World Of Pettiness

World of Pettiness
© Words and Music David Fox BMI

You don’t read the papers any more
You’re tired of trying to keep score
And you really can’t remember who’s winning the war

You feel defenseless
Stripped bare
Naked
Oh so vulnerable in this World of Pettiness

Somewhere you’re living in your head
Barely able to get out of bed
Relinquishing your will
To apathy instead

And you feel defenseless
Stripped bare
Naked
Oh so vulnerable in this World of Pettiness

These changes can overcome
The weakest or the very strong
And shake your faith in what?
A dream that’s gone
Or was never there
Something you conjured out of thin air

And you feel defenseless
Stripped bare
Naked
Oh so vulnerable in this World of Pettiness

There are no ideals you can believe in
To prop you up in your hour of need
No rabbit’s foot
To touch for good luck
And since the eleventh hour has struck

And you feel defenseless
Stripped bare
Naked
Oh so vulnerable in this World of Pettiness
