"Percussionist Arturo Stable has crafted a very fine Latin jazz record that has plenty of drum intelligence. Listen to his elegant handling of the all-conga "Congas Libres." This boy has game. Originally from Cuba, and now residing in the U.S., Mr. Stable composed most of the material on 3rd Step, including the sophisticated and funky "Danzón Del Abuelo," a wonderful nearly 8 minute track laced with Tim Mayer's flute work and Carlos Del Pino's playful bass lines. A very good debut. Highly recommended."

"…Another combo release belongs to Percussionist Arturo Stable, whose powerful statement is felt on his debut, 3rd Step. This quartet, with guest reedman Tim Mayer, was one of the best surprises at the end of the year. Stable, who also composed and arranged, shows that he has staying power with this first project."
