Biography

Asako Takasaki – jazz vocalist
Born in Toyama prefecture, Japan

In NY, Asako befriended and studied with BeverleySmith, JamesSmith,
and BettinaSheppard.

Asako joined a jam session at St.NicksPub in Harlem and kept on joining sessions at the mass of famous jazz clubs such as LenoxLounge, Showmans, RobinsNest, AmericanLegion, Niagara, CleopatraNeedls, Smalls, FatCat, Garage, pumpkins, NuyoricanPoetsCafe.

She also took part in the recording of James Smith,(who is a keyboard player of STAFF), when he made his private CD.
A contestant on the AmateurNight at ApolloTheatre in Herlem.

In 2002, Asako completed her first original songs album AKO.
In 2006, she made a jazz album MOON RIVER with NobukiTakamen as a guitarist and a arrenger, KyokoOyobe as a pianist and HidehikoTanaka as a bassist

Asako expands the range of activities, so she works not only as a jazz singer but also as a collaborator with musical companies or dancers.

She is currently performing live concerts at StanfordHotel MaximLounge, CuttingRoom, HellGateLounge and so on.
