"...the crowd seemed to dig the New Jersians of Ascending From Ashes, who deliverd a solid rendition of Linkin Park’s ‘One Step Closer.’""" - Loudwire

Bio

AFA is a rock/metalcore quartet hailing from Bergen County, NJ. Having opened for bands like Evans Blue, Taproot, Hed P.E., and Michale Graves, they've both directly witnessed and been a part of the still thriving American rock scene. Most fans would agree that AFA's live show is their music's finest hour, but their debut disc, the Phoenix EP, capture’s the music’s energy at the highest degree. By blending heavy riffs and lush harmonies, Ascending From Ashes consistently issue faint reminders that hard rock and metalcore continue to be close cousins.

While the relationship of the band members dates as far back as 2004, the earliest sessions of what would become AFA began in 2007, when Kevin and David Ricco (bass and guitar), along with their friend/classmate Sean Johnson (drums), recruited local singer Sean Collichio. Under the name “Make It Fit”, they produced a 7-song LP, “A War Unarmed”, at Canon Found Soundations in Union City. During this time, they became frequent performers of the local VFW circuit, garnering local attention and the interest of CPA and current manager Nick Vlachos. It was around this time that they changed the name to Ascending From Ashes.

In addition to playing with many major label acts over the next year, AFA also earned a spot on 2011’s Bamboozle roster, by way of their popular Break Contest. MTV shot one of their rehearsals for a transition commercial, highlighting the local rock scene. Not long after that, they released their debut EP, The Phoenix EP, under the new name
