Ash Loc

Hip-hop artist Ash Loc was born Ashley Shaday Hester on July 13, 1986, in Joliet, Illinois where she also currently resides. What inspires her most is the feeling music provides her; the feelings needed to be able to describe her world in a rhythmic way that’s therapeutic for her and the listeners. She described music as a drug she can’t put down, and loves nothing more than the way her music touches other people when they hear it. Growing up, the hip-hop artist that she looked up to the most were, Jeezy because his hood narrations made you feel what he was going through when you listened to him, so when you heard it, you believed him because it felt real, Missy Elliott because of her different style, Ash Loc describes her as, “weird in a good way”, Ludacris because he was creative and clever in how he presented his rhymes and he was a character, and Lauryn Hill because of her lyrical ability and knowledge she provided. Ash Loc gains motivation to write her lyrics from how she is feeling at the moment, her environment, personal experiences, and inspiring others because she knows her lyrics mentions personal accounts of her life that many people can relate to, but are afraid to talk about publically because of the shame they may feel if people heard it. Her lyrics address sensitive topics such as experiencing child molestation, which fans have heard and reached out to her through social media about how her lyrics touched them and made them feel inspired to talk about their own personal situations. Ash Loc describes her lifestyle being crazy, inspiring, and fun, which are evident in the multiple different aspects you experience once you listen to her music. She wants her fans to know that anything is possible, and no corner that you are bagged into is impossible to make it out of.
