Bio
Ashby Anderson is an accomplished jazz composer, pianist. He is among the rising number of Jazz artists that produce,manufacture and distribute their music over the internet. In keeping with his drive for musical independence, He formed a non-profit organization in 2001 called the Jazz Composers Alliance Inc. The organization serves as a forum for the creation, development and presentation of original works by jazz composers.
In 2005 he recieved a commission from Meet the Composer/ Commissioning Music USA along with other notable Jazz artists, pianist Geri Allen and Jimmy Heath to compose a four movement suite for Jazz ensemble. The work made its debut in November 2006 an is entitled the Historic Richmond Jazz Suite. In 2004 his composition "Culture of a City" received "Honorable Mention" as a finalist in the 2004 International Song Competition.
Anderson has succesfully produced 4 independent CD's and continues to produce concerts that feature the original works of Virginia Jazz artists. Now working on a revolutionary book that outlines mathematical methods for music composition, Anderson continues to search for new approaches to the worlds most revolutionary art form called Jazz
