"Local band ‘Ashes of the Armada’ will certainly entertain with their crazy antics"

Drummer Jake Haas started the local band Ashes of The Armada two-years ago, and they have gained a reputation of pure awesomeness.
The name “Ashes of The Armada” is very unique, just like the band. “It is based off of a story concept that our album is written about,” said Jace Turner, vocalist.
Their stage presence is strong. “We have a crazy stage presence; we have the craziest around,” Turner said.
They’re known for covering themselves in red, black, and blue paint.
“It was something we felt we should do,” Haas said.
The band falls into the metal genre called Mathcore.
“It’s really technical music, with lots of time and tempo changes,” Haas said. The current line-up for AOTA is:
• Chris Vieyra, guitar
• Jace Turner, vocalist
• Jake Haas, drums
• Edgar Guerra, guitar
AOTA practices three or four days a week. “We’ll practice for a good three or four hours,” Turner said. “We’re going to go up to three guitarists, and we’re looking for a bassist.”
None of the band members drink or do drugs. “We promote peace and positivity,” Haas said.
Like every band they have had their share of insane shows. The most memorable to the band was “The Invisible Children Show.”
All the bands played for free and the money made from proceeds went to charity. “There were about 600 people there, it was a good show,” said Turner.
AOTA are working on an up and coming album. A soon to be released sampler of their music will be available for sale. Its cost will be approximately $5.
“‘Prepare To Unfold The Long Journey Of The Apocalypse’ — that’s going to be the first song on our up and coming album, ‘Upon a Lake Of Embers,’” Turner said. They also have an EP of their earlier releases titled “EP of the Armada.”
Touring is up next on the list of things to conquer. “Pretty much the goal is to have enough money to sustain touring,” Haas said.
If you want to get a hold of AOTA or just check out their updates you can always check them out on www.myspace.com/ashesofthearmada.
“A lot of people talk to us,” Turner said. “We like people.”
They’re also on Facebook, Twitter, You Tube, and Pure Volume, all with a back slash followed by “Ashes of The Armada.” - The Collegian

Bio

Ashes of the Armada (AotA) is a mathcore band of best friends from Hutchinson, KS. Boundaries are just limitations, and this group knows none, always pushing themselves to write music that is varietal and always evolving. To complement the crazed attack that is their sound, their live performance holds zero back and is nothing short of a spastic seizure and an in your face revolution. Putting all of their hard-work to showcase is their upcoming concept album 'Upon a lake of embers', the tale of a pirate crew who are forced to wage battle with their darkest monsters within and the lord of evil himself.
