Have a visit to the Quiet South as the region’s local flavor has tempered a songwriting style and delivery that has been aged and fermented into a genre she dubs Country Torch.

Biography

A Southern, traveling homebody. That's me. I love being away on traveling adventures, but I'll always come back to the South. Singing along to Randy Travis' "Diggin' Up Bones" at two years old in the passenger seat of my dad's Ford pickup, I had an early thirst for sound.

Early influences Billy Holiday, and Sarah Vaughn mentored me and pointed me to my future teachers... Miles Davis,The Beatles, and Patty Griffin to name a few.

I've been called a singer-songwriter, but I think of my self as a narrator. I have to believe what I sing, or music is just work.
Hope to meet you soon on the road. We'll exchange stories then.

Lyrics

Best Stay Alone

Written By: Ashley Albritton

Verse 1
I let my glory come down into your arms
Like a jewel from a strand you dangled my tired heart
I let you convince me to convince myself
Turn my world into you and nothin’ else (When you)

Chorus
Settle on, settle on, settle on in
Your breeze got me tangled. Wound up with the risk.
Settle on, settle on, settle on in
When I let you close I wasn’t asking for this
The next time I find myself lost
I Best stay alone

Verse 2
When you showed I was in a mess. I was on the ground
Bold strokes on my walls to claim me bound
I let you stay far too long
Showed secret places just to be known

Chorus

Across the Jordan

Written By: Ashley Albritton

When I find you across the Jordan
I will hold you like I always wanted
And we’ll be done with imprecision
all the weakling indecision of our love
Oh what a day. Oh what peace I shall find.
When I know that you know that I tried. Oh I tried.

When I find you across the Jordan
Let us sit down there with our hands cradled
I will tell you all the times I lied
And tell me. / Won’t you tell me all your times?
Oh what a day. Oh, what peace I shall find.
When redemption’s not just story. It is yours and it is mine.

When I find you across the Jordan
My dear, don’t you speak a word of pardons
After one time lookin’ back we will
Have no use for the past. We’ll be anew.
Oh, what a day. Oh, what peace I shall know.
When I do not wonder for you like before.

When I find you across the Jordan
I will hold you like I always wanted
And we’ll be done with imprecision
all the weakling indecision of our love
Oh what a day. Oh what peace I shall find.
When I know that you know that I tried. Oh I tried.

For you, for good.

Listen close now. There's
No rest within what has been.
Twilight, impose now.
I will ache for you to wake.

(And when you're)
Just close enough for keepin’
I will see you in the stars at evenin’.

Lord, look down.

Written By: Ashley Albritton

Verse 1
River is rising
I’ve got a mud-painted face
Water rushing
And there ain’t no angels on these banks

Chorus
Lord, look down.
My Lord, won’t you look down?
Gazes are tumblin’ down from the sky
Tryin’ to keep this flood at bay?
I’m headed for the hills cause
There ain’t no walkin’ these waters today.

Verse 2
I want a lesson
Give me a word from the deep
Swing low to the water break
Cause if this is peace I want it far from me.

Chorus
Lord, look down.
My Lord, won’t you look down?
Gazes tumble down from the sky
Would you keep this flood at bay?
I’m headed for the hills cause
There ain’t no walkin’ these waters today

Make your way back home

Written By: Ashley Albritton

Verse
It’s been years now we’ll
Throw these arms down
Sink your feet in this land
Cast yourself in
Gentle waters that
Won’t shift like sand

Chorus
Ohhhhhh
Ohhhhhh
Make your way back home

Verse 2
I would’ve kept you. I
Would have held you
Had I found you in heaps
Dear, it’s done now
Your foe he sleeps now
Come now, ease.

Chorus
Ohhhhhh
Ohhhhhh
Make your way back home

Bridge
And if you come around (come Around)
If you come by these parts,
And if you come around (come Around)
If you come by these parts,
You’ll be met with peace.

Double Chorus
Ohhhhhh
Ohhhhh
Make your way back home

Making Names

Written By: Ashley Albritton

V1
You're always in my sleep before rain.
Still trying to make you away.
I bet you didn't think it'd go this far.
setting out with trumpets and scars.

PC
I will go down to the lines for you

Chorus
Making names for a chaser, three time vow eraser
Lettin be what's already been
Take the cuffs and let 'em in. Take this heart and let it spin.
i'll be leavin' the lights for the deep

Verse 2
Knowing one thing is enough for the gray.
I'm still forgetting you each day.
I am what's left to keep. I am
undulating from demands.

PC
Chorus

Bridge
How bout those western lights
don't tell me bout the city skies.
(Two times over “I will go down to the lines for you”)

Chorus

Move Along

Written By: Ashley Albritton

I went down, I went down today
Took a trip to visit your old ways, ahh. Move along.

Well, maybe it was peace. It was some kind of something
I just want to understand why I’m left here with nothing, ahh. Move along.

Move along.
Move along.

Right foot first. Now, for the left.
I just wish I’d really lost the kind of love I thought I had, ahh. Move along.

Move along.
Move along.

Pick up the shards. Head right for the daggers.
Give me a concrete tongue and a Jacob swagger. Ahh. Move along.

Move along.
Move along.

Right After You

Written By: Ashley Albritton

Keep on blazin’, babe

Blazing them trails

Perhaps they will take you

where you can’t take yourself

Call me a fighter, said

I cut you and leave

How ‘bout some proof

‘Cause the wounds I see are on me

You think I should stay
And I’m only
Walking away
Well, Right After you

It’s getting crowded, Love

Crowded in this room

You can throw up your hands

Right after you pass me the trut

You think I should stay
And I’m only
Walking away
Well, Right After you

I’ve got no choice
No Choice to Make
You made it for me.
That was my mistake.

You think I should stay
And I’m only
Walking away
Yes, Right After you

Tired Down Deep

Written By: Ashley Albritton

Verse 1
I am tired down deep
Deep down tired in my bones.
My soul has gone weak
and my will's grown old.

Chorus
On, Lead me on
Take me to the quiet south
On, lead me on
So that you I'm not without

Verse 2
For the sight of still waters
and pastures so green
I raise my head
And lower it to sleep

Chorus

Verse 3
For the warm of a morn
That has mercies made new
I put my tears in the ground
Cast my eyes to you

Chorus

Verona

Written By: Ashley Albritton

Verse 1
Was it the blisterin’ heat
That made you cross every color of sea?
Further each day
‘Twas a far-fetched lie that sent you away

Pre-Chorus
Heard you went on to see Verona
Was it far enough from the magnolias?

Chorus
If I could call you back, I’d do it today.
But you grown so fond of your nameless face
If I could make you see where the pace was wrong
Wouldn’t have to speak to you in song
Holes in the walls and the meek at their knee
Oh, leave those angry bones by the
sea

Verse Two
Just your mem’ries and you
Sure is a lot to carry
By chasing the sun
What is it you aim to bury?

Pre- Chorus

Chorus

Bridge
And when Spain billows in the breeze do
you sometimes hear from me?
Calling you back to where you belong,

Chorus
