Bio

This five piece group from Waterford have over the last few years gained a reputation for their amazing live performances, having played "Hard Working Class Heroes 2005", "Lee Jeans Live", and been finalists in the "Murphys Live 2006" in Cork city.

Up to now the band have recorded a successful first album, 2 EP's and have just released the first single "Victoria" from their impending second album "Danse Macabre".
The album "Instead of the Ground" was launched at the end of 2003 after which the band embarked on a very successful tour of Ireland taking in all the major towns and cities.
Summer of 2004 saw the release of 2 EP's, "Whatever Calls You Skyward" and "Asleep" and more live gigs.
2004 ended with the shooting of a live DVD in the Forum, Waterford which is due for release towards the end of 2006.

All albums, EP's, and singles were written, produced and engineered in Farm Studios in Waterford City by the bands front man Ashley Sheehan. Influences in his writing range from Mercury Rev to Morrissey to Josh Rouse to Sigur Ros. He is a talented and versatile songwriter composing in a variety of styles, ranging from simple but effective guitar driven songs, to multi-layered, orchestral music, and everything in between.
This versatility is also evident in the bands live performances, described by Hotpress' Steve Cummins as follows:

"The energy and punch they put into their set was nothing short of invigorating. Sitting somewhere between Arcade Fire and Echo & The Bunnymen, songs like "I Prefer Lies" and the beautiful "Victoria" are stunning examples of the quality of the songs in their cannon, a brooding "I Have Something you Like" only adds to the sense we are witnessing something special"
"Songs like 'Victoria' lifted the roof off the place while Fintan Kavanagh's violin pierced the wall of sound built by Sheehan's constantly shifting guitar hooks"

Ashley Sheehan& the Mute have performed with acts such as Gorky's Zygotic Mynci, The Walls, 10 Speed Racer and Relish.
