Ashtray Art masterfully captures the intensity
and paralyzing emotion of their subjects with captivating, full ranged vocals and plaintive,
thoughtful arrangements and gripping guitar accumen. Ashtray Art's unique sound has been
described as haunting and powerful, with songs that draw you in, raise your hackles and smash you against some rock in some far away place. One well respected industry figure proclaimed that "...Ashtray Art sets a very high standard musically.". Having spent many years in the Tampa Bay area music scene playing with many different bands and having the opportunity to work with many different exceptional musicians, Jay had several qualified candidates to choose
from to round out the band's line-up. With Jay assuming his role as lead guitarist and lead
vocalist, the band is now composed of players from those earlier efforts. On drums, Ron Weiss was recruited for his outstanding abilities
behind the kit and for his raucous and infectious personality. Keith Hancock, Jay's oldest and dearest friend and musical cohort on bass was
enlisted for his tried and true performance abilities and general quirkiness.
