"Music Week Tipster Section"

"A Silent Film are a fabulous four-piece band that have been studiously working and honing their sound to a point where lucky Oxford gig-goers, in tiny underground venues, have been witnessing a band creating music that could fill stadiums. The BBC's new Introducing... initiative was quick to pick up on their obvious talent and gave them a slot at Glastonbury, a perfect venue to launch their new EP which is a lamplight that deserves to shine very brightly in the years to come." - Music Week- Tim Bearder BBC

"A Silent Film, The Projectionist EP"

Combining the grandiose bombast of Keane with the more down-tempo strippe back staccato of 'Pablo Honey'- era Radiohead, A Silent Film's debut EP marks the premiere performance of a band whose promose points toward a future blockbuster. They won't be silent for long.

"A Silent Film The Projectionist"

Gently weaving intricately constructed tales, this DIY piano-led quartet from Oxford produce larger than life cinematic soundscapes, rolling from trance-like distortion to superbly focused piano and electric guitar hooks. Softly experimental and thoughtfully worded, this is an intriguing debut. (RZK) - RockSound Magazine

Bio

A Silent Film is an alternative rock band from Oxford, England. Their debut album is a piano and guitar led fusion of dance and indie rock. Often restrained but brimming with energetic drumming and lyrics which reveal introspective stories of both fact and fiction.

Classically trained and influenced by the arena rock acts of the 70's like Genesis, Queen, Yes and Pink Floyd.

Recent Highlights:
In June 2007 we were invited to play on the BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury. Shortly after, a live recording of 'Chromatic Eyes' was featured on Huw Stephen's Radio 1 show.

In August 2007 we released our debut EP 'The Projectionist' on Xtra Mile Recordings at two sold out performances; The first in Soho's legendary revue bar, the latter in the Ultimate Picture House a delapidated cinema in Oxford using screen projections as a back drop in front of a seated audience. EP lead track 'The Lamplight' received several plays on national radio including Steve Lamacq.

In September 2007 we were asked to feature in the forthcoming Philip Pullman adaptation of 'The Butterfly Tattoo'. Shot as a live performance whilst the main characters dance to our song 'Six Feet of Rope and Revenge'

In December 2007 they signed a deal for one album with Xtra Mile and started recording with producer Sam Williams (Supergrass). The band secured a top agent and have been touring with Scouting for Girls, Athlete, Glasvegas, Melee and will be touring with One Republic for their UK tour in September and October 2008. Album is scheduled for digital release on September 22nd and physical release on October 6th. Steve Lamacq invited the band in September 3rd as his New Favourite Band and we expect radio to playlist the new single as they have for the previous single.
