A-slam music productions is one of the fastest growing Hip-Hop Punjabi Fusion acts in Canada. Most desi fusion acts fuse English R&B with Punjabi vocals, and feature hip-hop on certain tracks. A-slam is establishing themselves as being one of the first groups to strictly fuse hip-hop and Punjabi instead of R&B. In June 2007, a-slam productions released their first mix tape entitled 'Now They're Talking'. The disc features the hit singles "Charcha", "For You", and “Play on Playa”. Charcha and Play on Playa are remixes of popular hip-hop songs We fly High and No Diggity. "For You" received first place in the 2006 International Song Writing Competition (hip-hop/r&b category). The win has provided the group with extensive media coverage including the cover of the 24 hours newspaper, a segment on Global BC news, and various radio & TV interviews. A-slam is currently working on their new album and posting new songs on their website, and on Facebook, as they finish them. This type of promotion technique is until now unheard of. The group hopes that this will allow each song on the album to be heard instead of just the singles. The group recently completed a remix to For You and has placed the song for free download on www.a-slam.com. The freshly completed video is also on their website. The song is a tribute to their mothers and mothers around the world. The original version was completely in English. The remix includes Punjabi vocals sung by GGB and Spanish vocals sung by the producer of the beat Danni. The reggaeton style of the remix was inspired by Imran Khan’s Ni Nachleh. Other influences on A-slam include RDB and Bone Thugs N Harmony.

In addition to recording their new album, the group is constantly performing around Vancouver and its surrounding areas. “E.V.” recently returned from Toronto where he performed at Desi Fest, as one of the opening acts for Apache Indian. The group has opened for mainstream acts such as Malkit Singh, Fat Joe, Sweat Shop Union, Josh, and Aman Hayer. If he’s not performing, you can also catch “E.V.” djing, spinning a-slam tracks along with other bhangra fusion music. The group includes “E.V.” as executive producer, vocalist, and engineer.
