Bio

Meet A.S.N. This Boston-born, Brookline-raised MC has been grinding on over time, breaking barriers and climbing the ladder in his no-holds-barred approach to Hip-Hop. Twenty-five year old A.S.N. started rapping before the age of twelve, selling his 80 minute cassette tapes for $5 in grade school. Producing beats by his Freshman year in high-school. Though he’s just popping on the scene now, one can’t accurately call this man ‘new’.
Unfortunately, his music wasn’t immediately the first priority in his life. After years of being in and out of the court system finally landed A.S.N. in Middlesex County House of Correction (Billerica, MA) for nearly nine months in April of 2005, ASN finally got the wake up call and discipline he needed. Taken away from his family (Two sons at the time. He now has three), he realized it was now or never. Either cut the bad habits or end up in and out of jail your whole life.
"I was in jail listening to the radio and hearing cats I grew up rapping with on the local radio stations. Meanwhile the people I ended up hanging out with were either in rehab or jail. The ones who weren't probably should have been. That snapped me out of it. I came home and had a whole new mentality…but beyond that, I‘m glad I went through the things I did. Having grown up in a good neighborhood, then hanging out with the people I did really let me see two different sides of the world. It gave me a better perspective."
Since his release in December or 2006, ASN’s music has been featured on mix-tapes alongside artists such as Jay Z, Kanye West, Lil Wayne and many others. His inspirational song ‘Eyes on the Prize’ (Formerly titled ‘If You Want It’) will be used in the upcoming Vin Diesel movie-based video-game ‘Wheelman‘. His song ‘Look Beyond Your Eyes’, featuring Boston Hip Hop veteran Edo G, is being featured on the Peace Boston album (a national anti-violence Hip Hop movement in response to Boston‘s rapidly increasing murder and crime rates). Both radio and club DJs have spun ASN records. Not just across the US, but across the world.
In addition to the progress with his recordings, ASN has also opened for internationally known artists such as Smif N Wessun, Special Teamz and, most recently, AZ. He has participated in and won many freestyle battles and performed in countless shows through-out the New England area.
His Latest project, ‘Made For This‘, features artists that both Underground Hip-Hop fans and the commercial listeners can all appreciate. AZ, DJ Khaled, Smif N Wessun, Vakero and many of Boston's hottest up and coming artists, including Lee Wilson, Bre (of Smo Money Entertainment) and Nancia, all pitch in to make this CD one of the most varied, yet well-centered, hip hop albums ever. The live Rock n Roll instrumentation on the title track ‘Made For This’, makes sure the listener knows that they are in for something different. Something great. From the Reggatone smash ‘When They Like’, featuring Dominican Republic Reggaetone Super-Star, Vakero, to the heart-felt poetry on ‘Ghetto Dad’ and ‘Intertwined‘, ASN proves he has all of the bases covered. Club songs, street anthems…you name it.
Hit after hit, verse after verse, line after line, ASN is pure quality with no filler. A rare breed in any genre of music, or any walk of life. Tight beats, a broad spectrum of subject matter, intelligent lyrics and an agile flow show that A.S.N. has progressed very far in his own evolution, musically, physically and mentally. Say good-bye to filler lines and the separation of the banging beat and the relevant lyricist. One listen to his international debut will alleviate any skepticism that ASN was, in fact, ‘Made For This’.
