"A SOUND OF THUNDER STREAMING COVER OF MANOWAR’S “PLEASURE SLAVE”"

A Sound Of Thunder have released a cover version of the classic Manowar song "Pleasure Slave". The song can be streamed below. The band is offering a high-quality digital download of the track as a free bonus with its current Kickstarter campaign.

As if Manowar weren't controversial enough among metal heads, the song "Pleasure Slave", a bonus track from Manowar's sixth album Kings Of Metal, is infamous for its lyrical content.

"Joey DeMaio wrote one of the most hilariously sexist songs of all time," stated A Sound Of Thunedr vocalist Nina Osegueda. "And that's cool, but turnabout is fair play. This one's for you, Joey!"

"There is no greater joy than taking a hilariously misogynistic piece of music and turning it upside-down," Osegueda continued. "The composition itself is great, but I always wanted it to be a little faster. The vocals were a challenge, but I had fun using my low register more than usual. As for the background vocals, we had a great time recording a bunch of our male fans making horrible orgasm noises. I don't think I've ever laughed so hard in my life!"

A Sound of Thunder guitarist Josh Schwartz also commented on the track: "Ironically, this song has probably given me more pleasure over the years than any other. The lyrics are so ridiculously over the top, and Eric Adams delivers them with such conviction, that I can't help but crack up when I hear it...we are talking laughing so hard I'd be in tears sometimes! So full disclosure: we actually love Manowar and embrace their cheese, and just thought it would be fun to turn this one on its head. Our fans paid for the production of this song so we're releasing it for free to the whole world to hopefully spread some smiles and laughter. Hail, kill, and enjoy!" - Brave Words

"A SOUND OF THUNDER eclipses Kickstarter goal for Tales From the Deadside"

Some people may claim rock and roll is dead–I’m looking at you Gene Simmons–but metal fans continue to prove there is life left in our beloved genre of music. Washington D.C.-based metal horde, A Sound of Thunder can celebrate having some of metal’s most diehard and loyal fans. This week the band announced its latest Kickstarter campaign for its forthcoming fifth studio album, Tales From the Deadside. Before the band had time to even spread the news, fans had already helped them eclipse their initial goal.
As devout as the band’s fans are, A Sound of Thunder is equally dedicated to giving them worthy rewards (and memorable metal) for their support. Moreover, they are perhaps the most prolific band around. Before the release of last year’s amazing The Lesser Key of Solomon record, the band had already begun writing and recording Tales From the Deadside. In the midst of all this they are also finishing up a covers EP that was a reward for fans of the previous Kickstarter campaign.
Tales From the Deadside was recorded at Assembly Line Studios with RIAA platinum-awarded producer Kevin ‘131’ Gutierrez (Shinedown, While Heaven Wept, Raven), and the album tells the story of Shadowman, one of the flagship characters of Valiant Entertainment‘s comic book universe.
A Sound of Thunder by Duy Tran 2013A Sound of Thunder is an independent and completely fan-funded band from Washington, D.C.

With this campaign we hope you’ll continue to support our musical endeavors. In return we’ve cooked up a slew of Kickstarter-exclusive rewards. Explore the rewards in-depth below…we think you’ll find something you like!"

"VALIANT AND A SOUND OF THUNDER PARTNER FOR SHADOWMAN CONCEPT ALBUM"

Valiant Entertainment has revealed more information about their partnership with Washington, DC area heavy metal band A Sound of Thunder -- a partnership that has led to the creation of a concept album starring the voodoo-powered Shadwoman.

The concept album,"Tales From the Deadside," was originally funded via Kickstarter, where it earned well over its initial target funding and raised over $30,000. A Sound of Thunder recorded the 10-track album with producer Kevin '131' Gutierrez. The album is a full hourlong "Shadowman" experience featuring original songs, voice narration and soundscapes created by A Sound of Thunder. The album's title references the Deadside, a supernatural realm that plays host to threats to our world -- threats that only Jack Boniface, the latest in a long line of Shadowmen, can stop.

"The story of Shadowman, his alter-ego Jack Boniface, and the many characters in his world inspired us to create what we believe is our best album to date," said A Sound of Thunder guitarist Josh Schwartz in the release. "We let the story lead us to places our music has never been before, combining all the elements of supernatural horror, drama, action and adventure found in the comics. Of course, everything has gone through our own unique Thunderous filter, and all the familiar ASOT elements will be there. Shadowman's harrowing journey demanded no less!"

"Tales From the Deadside" will be released digitally, on CD and on vinyl on September 25; a release party will also be held for the album at Baltimore Comic-Con on the following day. The band themselves will also be present at the con at Booth A185, and they'll even have an exclusive variant cover for "Book of Death" #3 from artist Dusan Markovic. You can check out a preview of the album below. You can also preview other tracks, like "Tower of Souls" and "Tremble."

The character will next appear in "Operation: Deadside" – a four-part storyline beginning in December's Ninjak #10 by New York Times best-selling writer Matt Kindt and superstar artist Doug Braithwaite. - Comic Book Resources

"A SOUND OF THUNDER Announces New Album And EP"

Washington, D.C.-based metallers A SOUND OF THUNDER have entered Assembly Line Studios with producer Kevin "131" Gutierrez (SHINEDOWN, WHILE HEAVEN WEPT, RAVEN) to record their third full-length album entitled "Time's Arrow". Due in early 2013, the CD will feature the same band lineup, producer and studio that created 2012's acclaimed "Out Of The Darkness" release (Nightmare Records).

"Time's Arrow" will contain 11 new songs "combining rousing and catchy traditional metal with crushing modern production," according to a press release. The centerpiece of the album is the nine-minute sci-fi-themed title track. Guitarist and composer Josh Schwartz describes the song as "a high-octane headbanger with an unforgettable riff and an engaging story. Stylistically, it's IRON MAIDEN meets RUSH with a bit of MEAT LOAF thrown in for bombast." The tale begun in the lyrics is expanded in a short story by drummer Chris Haren, available in the limited box-set edition of "Time's Arrow".

On August 20, A SOUND OF THUNDER started a Kickstarter.com fundraiser campaign for the recording of "Time's Arrow". The campaign will run for 30 days and offers fans a chance to pre-order the album, have their name printed in the album booklet, reserve an ultra-limited box set edition of the album, and acquire unique and rare items from the band. Video at the band's Kickstarter.com page contains the first clips from the new album.

The band has also announced a second new release, "The Queen Of Hell" EP, due out in November. Also recorded at Assembly Line with Gutierrez, it contains four new tracks and is only available via the band's Kickstarter.com campaign. The cover art was provided by Serbian artist Dušan Markovic.

"We've always wanted to do an homage to classic swords-and-sorcery-themed metal album covers," says lead vocalist Nina Osegueda. "As you can see, we've gone horns up with 'The Queen Of Hell' art...I finally have the throne of skulls I've always wanted!"
