Aspect

Aspect represents the evolution of songwriter and musician Dan Heerdt. The influences of the band are varied, but always focus on melody. The strongest inlfuences on songwriting come from hard rock and heavy metal bands like Helloween, Journey, and Judas Priest with some progressive influences from bands such as Marillion or Dream Theater.

Fascinated and drawn to music from childhood, Dan learned to play keyboards on on old Hammond organ and Kimball piano around age 9. From there he moved to the drums at 13, preferring them to piano since there was so much more energy involved. Throughout high school Dan spent time teaching himself guitar and bass in the various garage bands he formed.

Eventually he turned his focus to songwriting as he and guitarist Dave Smurawski recorded four full length albums under the name Flashpoint.

In the late '90s Smurawski moved out of state, leaving Dan to work on recording a full album by himself, overseeing every aspect of a record's production. A name was born.

The first album, "Revelations," is currently in production and a four song demo was released to show the sound and vision of Aspect.

There are many more songs written and a second album will follow this first release soon. "It's exciting to see what started as sketchy ideas turning into full-blown albums with terrific production values," says Dan, "The future is open and hopeful for Aspect."
