"Drinking In The Poste House - EP Review"

Assembly are a new London based band. All 4 of the lads are originally from Liverpool. Mixing both of these cities’ musical influences, their folk melodies blended with an indie-rock drive, their sound is truly unique.

After an intense day in the studio, Assembly have come out fighting with a hook-laden E.P. destined to bury into your cortex.

‘Out Of Time’ is one of those slow-burning, rising, rousing tunes that documents the breakdown of a relationship. The sense of regret is tangible in Dave Melia’s voice, which is very reminiscent of Richard Hawley’s soulful solo efforts. This is echoed in the winsome guitar hook, and the song ends with some impressive fills from drummer Tom Melia.

‘Turn And Face’ features a bold, drum driven opening married with skittish, playful guitars. The 6am assessment of last night’s shenanigans is something every listener will relate to, great work boys!

‘You And I’ is a jaunty number about a love lost and the desire to break free from a dead end job.

These lads show definite promise, but the two vocalists need to combine more to get a fuller sound. Playing The Good Ship, Kilburn, London, on 24th July, Assembly are sure to pack a punch live so get on down! - Dom Martin - gigjunkie.net

Bio

Assembly are an amalgamation of two Liverpool bands from the early 2000's. After separating and leaving their home city to go to university, each pursued other musical projects, until paths crossed again in London.

Like most brilliant ideas, Assembly began in the boozer. Having spent many a night waiting for something to come along and give the local music scene a much needed lift, the lads put their pints down and decided now was the time to light the touch-paper.

Mixing folk melodies with an indie-rock drive, and London with Liverpool, you can catch the lads at a number of venues throughout London.
