Bio

Like a bloody, axe-wielding psychopath at a children’s parade, As Summer Dies will shock the hell out of you. Where many unsigned bands mainstream themselves to follow trends, these five talented, sexy musicians from Buffalo, NY create their own paths. They wouldn’t have it any other way.
As Summer Dies’ humble beginnings can be found in 2004, when lead guitarist Jay Fritzius and lead vocalist Adam Vayne laid the foundation of in-your-face lyrics and a unique metal sound. The addition of bassist/backup vocalist Angel Stempfel in 2005 brought the haunting EP “Close Your Eyes, I’ll Make You Famous,” and a loyal local fan base.
After sharing the stage with acts such as Suicide City and Michael Graves from the Misfits, As Summer Dies decided to fill in some gaps to create a more cohesive look and sound, and added Rob Zelin on keyboards/synth and former award-winning freestyle drummer Rick Leonard in 2006. Fans marveled at the fuller sound and in 2007, filled The Icon in Buffalo, NY with 500 screaming admirers for the release of the group’s full length album, “Sincerely,” which has since sold more than 1500 copies. The band quickly shed its freshman image and began an aggressive tour, opening for nationally touring acts like Mushroomhead, Hurt, Psyclon 9, Life of Agony, Love Hate Hero, Horse The Band, Four Letter Lie, the Suicide Girls, and Eighteen Visions.
Jack Rabid of The Big Takeover notes, “Musically, As Summer Dies is a modern day blend of Marilyn Manson, Joy Division and the Wipers, combining elements of goth, punk, metal and hardcore to create something truly unique.”
As Summer Dies has propelled forward to build a reputation that refuses to be argued with, and their self-propelled marketing campaigns have certainly paid off. The group gave 120 memorable performances among 30 different states in 2007. Album “Sincerely” can be found at Hot Topic stores; select stores even carry items from the group’s extensive merchandise collection. They have been featured in Substream magazine and were voted by metalsanaz.com viewers as the Hottest Metal Band. Their music can be found on iTunes, CDBaby, Sirius station Hard Attack, and Buffalo’s 103.3 The Edge, as well as on several college radio stations and club disc jockey playlists across the country.
Looking forward, 2009 brings the release of an as yet untitled remix disc featuring two brand new songs, and continued aggressive touring. Given their past successes, it’s safe to say As Summer Dies’ shock-and-awe campaign on the metal scene will continue to impress.
