"Rapper works his way onto right path"

While many music fans dream of becoming a rap star Shawn "ASTRAY" Grossman is actually living it.
There is no club or hot spot that would dare turn away the Self Proclaimed "King of the naw". - Saginaw News

"Artist of the Week"

This kid brings the type of clever originality and hunger it will take for him to break clear of any musical comparisons... and one day new comers will be compared to him.
- Real Detroit

"3 1/2 out of 4!!!"

ASTRAY's abilities to rhyme any way at any time keeps you guessing and begging for more! - MSU BIG GREEN

"Album Review"

ASTRAY is a franchise player. Whoever passes him up will feel like the Cavs after drafting Ferry over Jordan!!! - RapReviews.com

"New Disc Feeds Soul"

Saying Astray is a local celebrity is like saying the sadsack Detroit Tigers didn't do very well last season in baseball. A major understatement, that is.
- Bay City Times

"Album Review"

Astray from Saginaw has a phenomenal album out. This kid can rhyme and flow like no one I've heard. The beats on his CD are incredible. I've never heard of the people he used but the sounds they make are sweet. Astray comes hard but I wouldn't say he is a Gangsta rapper. He has a unique style the production and the raw skill means we might see him topping the charts soon.

Bio

b. Shawn Michael Grossman 2 November 1980, Saginaw, Michigan, USA. Astray started rapping in grade school and has aspired to do nothing else. After entering many competitions and talent shows Astray began to cultivate a following of fans and industry people alike. His first solo album, the self titled “Astray” established him as a local star. Through constant performing and word of mouth it went on to sell over 5,000 copies. “Hungry” Astray’s second album was his first national release and allowed him to tour in the Midwest region increasing his fan base in cities like Toledo, Gary and Chicago. Groups like Bonecrusher, Dayton Family, D-12 and Three six Mafia have all called upon Astray to open shows and warm up the crowd with his energetic performance. Magazines like Murder Dog named “Hungry” the best album of 2001 and Real Detroit Weekly proclaimed that “someday newcomers will be compared to him.” Currently “Hungry” has sold just shy of 10,000 copies and continues to sell well through the website. Through his newly inked deal with Pure Tone Music Publishing, Astray hopes to push his music into different areas of entertainment like film and television. Pure Tone is headed by Pete Ganbarg, a former VP of A&R for Arista, EMI/SBK and Epic/Sony and Pete is very confident Astray’s music will make a big bang in the near future. Never one to take time for granted, Astray has released his third album “Who’s Coming With Me,” and even with several opportunities pending he’s decided to go independent and put it out under his imprint. The album blends his growth as an artist with his knowledge of the rap game through his five year career. It’s topics range from the trend of suburban kids idolizing the ghetto, to his first love song, to his eagerness to gather all his supporters and take them with him as he climbs the ladder of success. That ladder has been held up by over 25,000 fans that have bought this record and packed there bags to come with him on this journey. "Who's Coming With Me?" has spent multiple weeks on the Billboard Heatseekers and Rap Albums chart, gained critical recognition in Murder Dog (4 Nuts), Source (independence Day) and Review Magazine (Best Rap Artist Award).

ASTRAY is currently touring the Midwest and continue to do press and promotion for "Who's Coming With Me?"
