"INTERVIEW: The Astroid Boys: Get In Touch With Your Grimey Side"

"Dope Kids Do Dope Things — that’s the motto for the Astroid Boys, a grime act from Wales and they are most certainly doing dope things. Combining dubstep with their quirky lyrics these boys are making music that will be the soundtrack of many parties to come. Their take on grime music wanders away from the traditional path opting for a more positive sound as opposed to the negativity that is sometimes associated with the genre." - Dirty Laces

"Niji Magazine Interview"

"Astroid Boys have been picking up a healthy following with some seriously fun tunes and killer videos doing the rounds on YouTube channel and their website / blog.

This crew of Welsh MC’s and DJ’s mix up the dirty side of Dubstep with an old skool Hip Hop party mentality.

Growing up from their well established roots in the South Wales grime scene, sharing their passion for music, raves, fashion and food, Phil “Traxx” Constantinou and Benjamin “Benji” Kendall bring a vibe that is 100% fresh, backed up by Richard “DJ Comfort” Bancroft and their touring human beatboxer, Beatbox Major and new super producer Dell Productions to form one of the craziest crews out there right now."

"Astroid Boys impact imminent!"

"Astroid Boys played Flavour Live last month and while they played an acoustic set they still captured the audience with their hype selves. I heard about Asteroid Boys a little while back and got a chance to see them live and talk with the guys who are remarkably humble and engaging.

Their forte is in live, unadulterated, moshing, angry vibing, smash the speakers, followed by a fag and a can of wife beater music. Not because they want to portray that but because they are essentially guys out to have fun in the nicest way. They are like your modern day rock band except they love to tear off your head with dub step beats and grime-nal behaviour. Down in Camden they played a set that had sweat dripping of the ceiling, nasty but great!"

Bio

Making their own lane, coming straight from the Welsh capital of Cardiff with their hard hitting shows is Astroid Boys. Spearheaded by 2 wild MC's that attack the stage like a playground, sharing their passion for the culture that they live in.

Phil 'Traxx' Constantinou and Benjamin 'Benji' Kendell bring a vibe that is 100% fresh, backed up by Richard 'DJ Comfort' Bancroft, Harry 'Big H' Williams on the drums, Kyle 'Long' Deek on guitar and 17 year old super producer Elliot 'Dellux Productions' Brussalis.

Since they emerged onto the UK music scene in 2011, they have really developed as a crew, forging a reputation as one of the UK's most exciting new acts. They have supported a variety of artists, including the likes of Skream, Rusko, Brutality Will Prevail, Trash Talk, Pro Green, Example, Mikill Pane and High Contrast, a testament to their wide appeal. They have continuously 'smashed' every show, from club nights to Hardcore Punk line ups and a number of major UK festivals such as Glastonbury, Bestival, Download, Ghostfest, Swn, Relentless Freeze Fest and Beach Break Live. They've even gone down a storm with stripped down sets at big Acoustic nights such as Metropolis Studios 'Power Down' sessions.

Their first official single and self produced video, 'Welcome To The Zoo', gained support from Rock, Pop and Urban major music channels alike (FLAVA TV, Virgin Music On Demand, Channel AKA and NME TV) and received BBC Radio 1 airplay from Huw Stephens.

Their follow up, 'BADA$$', was championed by the likes of BBC Radio 1 (Huw Stephens, Rob Da Bank, Jen Long and Annie Mac with The Blackout), BBC1Xtra (DJ Semtex, Charlie Sloth and DJ Target), XFM's Eddie Temple Morris and Alex Baker on Kerrang Radio. It also saw them embark on their first headline UK tour with a selection of their favourite Hardcore Punk, Grime, Hip-hop and Dubstep acts as support.

Both singles were released on their very own Brain Juice Recordings, in keeping with the band's effective DIY ethics. The Astroid Boys recently caught the attention of Dublin Records, and will be releasing their singles and videos State side through Dublin Records.
