""They're fun, dynamic and slick...Easily the best band to come out of Miami in the last few years.""

"We booked them for the show. And then they played and I was floored. I was like, 'They aren't even old enough to be in the club. But they owned Grand Central's stage in a way that I've seen very few people do...They're fun, dynamic and slick. You hear the tracks and hearken back to The Police and Super Tramp," Weingarth gushes. "Live, you are compelled to move your body and the sound is so fluid. Easily the best band to come out of Miami in the last few years.

"Plus, they are better musicians than me," he laughs. (Steven Weingarth) - Miami New Times

Bio

Astronaut is a four man group who has academically and privately studied music before they could score dates. The dating situation might vary now (hopefully) but time spent with music over the years, and more recently in Astronaut, definitely shows. They formed in the summer of 2009 and played their first show at a Sam Ash sponsored Battle of the Bands, and won.

They have been influenced by everyone from The Beatles with their harmonies to more contemporary artist like Two Door Cinema Club and Radiohead with their busy yet almost simple song structures.

Also pulling a lot from classical composers, they figured that to be anything like the greatest, you should listen to what they listened to.

The best part about them even now is that instead of just being good for how young they are, they're actually just pretty young for being so good.

With a strong fan base in Miami they managed to put out their first self titled EP October 2010. They built an even vaster fan base through out South Florida by performing live and streaming on radio stations including FIU college radio and Lynn University.

A&R reps and managers quickly caught the buzz and soon enough began reaching out to Astronaut with offers. Seeing things pick up quicker than they realized, Astronaut began to invest their time carefully.

With a lot more work (and a heap of fan support) Astronaut debut their "Eyes Closed EP" early March of 2012 with great reviews. The only place Astronaut seems to be heading is up.
