Bio
Off stage, Aswah is a man of few words - always humble, usually humorous, very subtle. His personal story is an inspiring as his lyrics and music. Born in Louisiana in 1946, Aswah came to Chicago after his Vietnam experience to find work "somewhere other than the lumber mills" of Louisiana. In 1971, his life was forever changed after a serious industrial accident severed hist right arm. After surviving not only the accident but the gruiling arm re-attachment surgeries and therapy that followed, Aswah emerged with a new sense of purpose leading him into a full-time music career. Spiritually guided and unencumbered by traditional definitions of success, Aswah lifestyle is best personified in the lyrics in his track Save You From Yourself, "Material possessions won't save you, only bring agression, enslave you." Aswah's message is a man's healing from violence, drugs, hatred and jealousy, and his music is his medium.
After releasing "Love to Love," the second full-length album that Aswah and his band the Enforcers through Windy City Records last year, Aswah Greggori completed a tour in the summer of '05 throughout the midwest.
Most commonly compared to Bob Marley, Burning Spear and Barrington Levi, Aswah and his Enforcers are available and prepared for all types of events and venues, from outdoors music fests to sound-equipped bars to college campuses.
