Bio

Dynamic, spirited, natural, evocative, exuberant, and sensual are just a few words that can be used to describe Soca diva Faye-Ann Lyons.

Hailed as “The First Lady of Soca”, Faye-Ann was born in Point Fortin, Trinidad, and began her singing career back in 2001. After two years, the free spirited singer-songwriter got her first taste of musical success when she became only the third female in history to achieve the honor of winning the coveted Road March Queen title with a solo composition in Trinidad and Tobago’s annual Carnival. Her 2003 hit “Display”, was the most played song during Carnival in that year. In 2004 she was the recipient of three COTT (the Copyright Music Organization of Trinidad and Tobago) Music Awards.

In her way, Faye-Ann is an inheritor of this outstanding talent. She is the daughter of calypsonian Lady Gipsy and Superblue – the eight-time Road March winner and five-time Soca Monarch winner in Trinidad and Tobago. Superblue is the man hailed as the originator of the “jump and wave” phenomenon and is renowned for performing daring antics on stage. His ability to move his audience is second to none and such is the talent of the irrepressible Faye-Ann Lyons. Faye-Ann has managed to marry her father’s upbeat and involved performances with her own individualism and joyous sense of life. This notorious social butterfly with explosive intrinsic energy has won glowing reviews from audiences and critics alike with her incredibly charismatic performances. Her playful persona is translated to her audience

Faye-Ann has always relied on her own ideas to create a spark and this is reflected in the fact that she has written all her musical compositions. She has however collaborated with Bunji Garlin, Miss Alysha, Andy Singh (the son of Ras Nankoo – one of the top Chutney singers), Chris Black (of the Rough Ryders), and Super Blue. Her discography include my turn, display, focus, clear de road, freedom, party, dat is carnival, wave, breakaway, john quickie, keep moving, khar, jahdo hain, and the most recent, M.A.S - Make A Stage.
