There are 2 types of artist in this world. There are those with overblown aspirations of fame, reinventing them selves both musically and sartorially to belong to whichever short-lived niche rules today in the hope that this may just be their 5 minutes to shine.
And then there are real artists; the artists who’s sole intention through their medium is to better their craft, to pen songs that will last forever and will convey their very being – whether through a snapshot of a moment in time, or a feeling they’ve held for their entire existence. A Thousand Colours are one of these bands.
A Thousand Colours formed in Houston, Texas in 2010. In their own words “we were all friends, having played in different bands and been through all the same struggles; the near misses, and then the stars just happened to align”.
In a year, A Thousand Colours have penned well over 40 songs, they play in different guises – full band, unplugged, solo, with accompaniment nearly every weekend in Houston; Growing with each performance and learning more about themselves, and their artistry – with influences ranging far and wide from Tom Petty, Elton John, Beach Boys, The Eagles through to Smashing Pumpkins, Elbow, Foo Fighters, Ryan Adams and Jimmy Eat World.
The first proof of A Thousand Colours talent and beauty will be revealed with a 5 track EP scheduled to be released early 2012, once released the band plans to expand from playing hometown shows in Houston to crossing the Atlantic and landing on the shores of the UK and beyond.
