Bio

Having just returned from a week of recording in Vancouver, WA Atlantic has finished tracking its first EP and is set for its release in early September. The Southern California band, made up of Joshua Toole (guitar/piano/vocals), Nathan Scharn (guitar/bgvs), Alex DeLaParra (bass/bgvs) and Jeramy Burchett (drums/bgvs), puts out an anthemic Brit-pop sound with a clearly American demeanor.

Josh has played the role of the frontman in bands since he learned how to play the guitar. After the semi-messy breakup of his acoustic-rock band, he picked up his electric guitar, promising he'd never play acoustic in a band again (a promise he breaks fairly a often these days), and started writing songs that showed up in his iTunes library as "New Rock Band." Enter the new rock band:

Josh and Nathan's musical connection precedes their births, as their parents were in a traveling musical group together in the seventies. Though Josh spent most of his adolescence in other parts of the country, the two were reunited when he came to Southern California for college. They began writing and playing together shortly thereafter. Alex, who had played in a band with Nathan in high school, came into the Atlantic picture when the three made music on a trip to Brazil, awakening an undeniable synergy in front of their small South American audiences. The group’s synergy grew exponentially in the pre-production sessions with Jeramy’s precisely aggressive drumming – Atlantic knew it had found its members.

The group can often be found watching Charlie Rose on PBS, conquering the world in a game of Risk, or doing some outdoor sport, from hiking or rock climbing to surfing or kayaking. They can't sit still for very long, which translates into a passionate, energetic live show, juxtaposing frenzy with three part harmonies and undeniable melodies.

The band's passion for music and art is apparent on the five-song EP. This fervor is matched by the members' love of performance, and they hope the songs they create can affect people as deeply and vibrantly as the artists, bands and performances they love and have loved have affected them.
