"Atlantic in Guatemala"

Cory Doiron, Dana Budovitch, Josh Harris, and Drew Wallace are passionate about serving Christ by playing music through their band called Atlantic. The friends and band members first traveled together as a recruitment team for Bethany. Since then, the band continues its ministry of playing music, speaking/teaching, leading seminars, and simply “being Jesus” to people wherever the doors may open.

Recently, Atlantic partnered with a church in Guatemala called CCCG to lead a small team on a month-long mission trip all over the beautiful country. The band gave concerts in over fifteen venues from a dirt stage in a remote poverty stricken village to the streets of Guatemala City. Over the four-week span the team, including Cory Doiron, Josh Harris, Drew Wallace, and Amy DeMings (FS’10), put on eight Gospel fairs and had the opportunity to minister at the Remar Orphange by leading chapel services in both elementary and secondary schools, playing with the children, and taking part in their classes. In addition to preaching in churches, Atlantic was also able to speak to different youth groups around the city about purity and self-worth. They also spent some time visiting Cory's parents, Wayne ('04) & Threasa Doiron, missionaries to Guatemala. Those on the team were incredibly blessed by the hospitality shown throughout their tour.

While Atlantic has been ministering full time for the last four years all over North America, this was their first tour out of the Western World. The band has developed a strong desire to share Christ’s love to the poor and needy across the world. As a result, they have started a non-profit organization known as Atlantic Community that raises funds allowing them to minister in music and take mission teams to Third-World countries.

Atlantic is extremely excited about this upcoming year. They have plans for their third album, seventh national tour, and more mission adventures outside of North America. Further information and Atlantic’s concert schedule can be found at www.atlanticcommunity.cc - Bethany College

"Band of Bethany Grads on Tour"

Six graduates from Bethany Bible College (BBC) travel the open road as a worship band, hoping God uses their talents in a positive way. The friends and band members call themselves "Atlantic" and are currently on their third North American tour.

Five of the guys are original band members and first played and traveled together as a college ministry team in 2007. They include Cory Doiron, Chris Horseman, Drew Wallace, Dana Budovitch, Joshua Harris, and Phill Merriman.

"After the end of that tour we felt God stirring us to keep going," says band member, Cory Doiron. But the band put things on hold for six months so four of them could complete school-related internships. Afterwards, the five still felt the urge to tour again. This time, however, they wouldn't be traveling on behalf of BBC, which meant they had no equipment or financial support.

Then God began to provide, all within three weeks' time.

A car dealer in Maine, who attends the Wesleyan church where Cory's dad is on staff as a pastor, gave the group a van for travel. Next, the college gave Atlantic a sizeable gift as a "thank-you" for their ministry as a traveling group, and Atlantic purchased a used sound system for that exact amount. Just days later, someone else gave them a trailer at no charge.
With resources in place, the group of Canadians left on their second tour (June - December 2008), and led worship at churches and youth events throughout the Midwest, East Coast, and various states in the United States, and a few places in Canada.

The group is presently on their third tour (May - October 2009), a coast to coast tour that has taken them as far as Oregon.

Atlantic sees music as an avenue for them to build relationships with others while on the road. They usually stay with church families and seek to spend time talking to kids and teens after each gig. The friends fully believe in relationships and being "in community" in every way; in between their last and present tours, they all took odd jobs and rented a house together in Sussex for four months.
"[Our] music is a fun story, but ministry happens relationally," says Cory.

Atlantic's path has crossed with such Christian artists like John Reuben, Everyday Sunday, and Shawn McDonald, as they've shared the stage together. In August, the band will play in a "Concert Under the Stars" at a Wesleyan campground in Ontario that will also feature Christian artist, Rebecca St. James, and bands, Down Here and Starfield.
