"Ace Weekley"

Attic Down is an entertaining mix of rock and groove, with obvious influences coming from Indian and other Eastern music. Their performance on stage is an illustration of their professionalism as they execute their songs to perfection, playing them exactly as recorded, while still giving a powerful, energetic performance. With an EP entitled ‘Nothing At All,” released in 2000, Attic Down is anticipating the release of their full-length CD later this year (2003). - "Sticky"

"BC Live News"

In celebration of Berea's 2002 Homecoming, music lovers of every age group came out to listen to "Attic Down" at Woods Penniman on Friday night. The audience ranged from local high school students to Berea College alumni who traveled from all over the country to attend Berea's Homecoming festivities.

After a hectic week of work and studying, "Attic Down" was an electric source of soothing music to the soul. Most who came out were impressed by the band's unique style and sound. Not only that, one student mentioned, "This band smells great!" The stage was ordained with red and white candles, and the band continually burned sweet-smelling incense. For anyone who wanted an escape, Woods Penniman was the perfect place to be. Everyone was able to breathe in the sweet incense, relax under the dim lights, and bob their heads or move their booty to music from the band's "Chiaroscuro" album, their EP "Nothing At All", and newer songs that will appear on their soon to be released album.

"Lexington Herald-Leader"

The new self-titled Attic Down CD is one everybody should have. These Kentucky boys have combined various instruments (from guitars to the baby grand piano) to create a distinctive sound. This 12-track CD includes five re-edited, previously released songs and seven new ones by the guys of Attic Down, known for gigs at local clubs. All 12 songs are well-written with lyrics and music that make you want to sing along. It's amazing how the guys of Attic Down are able to have such an array of sounds on one CD -- from something that reminds you of monks, in the chorus of Nothing at All, to the jazzy groove in Crooked Tree. The intertwining of the different sounds is rare in these days of prefabricated, artificial music. The lyrics, which at the most rate a PG-13, hit topics from temptation to the fear of growing old. This CD is good rock with a twist of Asian/Indian flair. Find out more about Attic Down, as well as tour dates, on the band's Web site: www.atticdown.com. You can buy the CD through the Web site. - Bennett Craig

Bio

Attic Down weaves various styles of music into their own, unique tapestry of modern alt-rock. Many world-beat, classical and Eastern influences can be heard in songs from their debut album, “Chiaroscuro” (released in 1997), and their recently released self-titled L.P. (2003). Though they have expanded their sound exponentially over the years, they continue to build their music upon the modern folk sensibilities that influenced the formation of the group in early 1994. The group - once known as "Chiaroscuro" - have built their reputation by providing excellent live performances that are rivaled in quality only by their recorded material.

Attic Down have performed in many music industry showcases including the New Orleans Cutting Edge New Music Showcase, the Louisville Harvest Showcase, The Midwest Entertainment Conference, the West Virginia Music Conference, and the Midpoint Music Conference. They continue to perform regularly throughout the South -Eastern region of the U.S. and build a dedicated following, without compromising any musical integrity.

Attic Down is able to present intelligent, enjoyable music to listeners of all ages. They have remained a steadfast beacon of originality in this era of instant gratification and carbon copy music.
