Biography

Founded by local Niagara music veteran and concert promoter, Rafik Guirguis, ATTICUS was created in 2013 in reflection of years of influences drawn by previous bands he had been part of [Journey To Aspen, Young Cardinals], and other local bands he had listened to growing up in Niagara.

After spending the earlier part of 2013 working with the crew at OneInk Studios to record the first ATTICUS demo 'RoughFeet', which is an alternate version of the current release 'The View', Rafik visited Damian Birdsey in the summer of 2013, guitarist of BitterKids, to record the first official ATTICUS release, 'Get Up Child'.

After the release of 'Get Up Child', Tim Anger, former bassist of Civil Hades, was contacted by Rafik to assume the role of bassist for ATTICUS. Chris Popoli, who has a knack for non-conventional music composition, joined on guitar along with Jacob Gigliotti on drums.

The group of four stand strong having released two singles, and having played a number of packed local Niagara shows to add to their repertoire. ATTICUS has shared the stage with local friends BitterKids, Monologues, Through These Words, Between Breathing, Upon Ashes, The Atlantic and JourneyToAspen, and is booking into the summer of 2014. An E.P. is also in works, to be released this summer.

Lyrics

Get Up Child

Written By: Rafik Guirguis

Tell me Lord your plan for me,
'Cause I've been struggling to see,
I've taken off my shoes, I've tried to put yours on,
But they're a little too big, and I'm a little too dumb,
To get what's going wrong in my life

You're impossible to please, it's a problematic impartial probability,
That I will dance around the means that mean the world to me.
It's funny how some words can have a mind of their own,
Once said you'll find yourself alone

[Chorus]
Get up child,
There's a plan for you,
There's a plan in everything you do,
Be patient child, there may be miles to go,
But I'll be watching over like street lights on a city road.

We look for answers, knee deep in prayers.
We look for answers, in all the wrong places at all the wrong times

[Chorus]
Get up child,
There's a plan for you,
There's a plan in everything you do,
Be patient child, there may be miles to go,
But I'll be watching over like street lights on a city road.
