"Audiobon "Heavy Hum""

I wish the vocals were a tad beefier, in line with the thick and marvelously executed whiskey sock-em ball-kickin' stoner riffage but I guess I can wish in one hand and shit in the other and ... Anyway, the vocals aren't bad, just not as thick and deep as I'd expect. However, now that I've hurt the lead singer's feelings, let me see if I can rectify by pointing out how well his style actually fits, forming a sort of voice in the maelstrom, functioning as some kind of muted prophet speaking from the mountain as it burns with rock fury. You can't get away from the infectiousness of Audiobon's big Sab riffwork run through a bar rock filter. Beaucoup coolness in totality. Dude. (I don't know why I picked on the singer for. I guess it was just expectation vs. actuality. Once I listened to a song, I was right along with it.) -

"AudioBon" - 6 track EP, self released in 2003.

Originally formed in 2002, the Chicago-based POWER trio Audiobon credits it’s influences to the psychedelic sounds of Cream and Pink Floyd, the stoner doom of Black Sabbath and Kyuss, the epic presence of Led Zeppelin and KISS, and the controlled chaos of Sonic Youth and Jimi Hendrix. Audiobon honors the greats by putting their hearts into every riff and lyric, but also pioneers new musical frontiers by fusing hard rocking with electronic elements.
