OK, OK... Typographically we have already seen that. Although the band from Berlin has an amazing program and exists more than ten years their concerts are quiet rare.
What the band name suggests - electronically generated, computer sampled beats and a synthetic sound - is far away from the music that audio-ok produces.
Two guitars, bass, drums and vocals are the base for the music. Aggressive, hard, taciturn but melodic - audio-ok compositions are complexly compressed energizers with a charmingly irritating, chauvinistic indifference.
Reduced and taciturnly is also the performance of the band that stands without searching for a comparison or a genre in the tradition of unorthodox experimental noise rock à la Shellac, Fugazi or Sonic Youth.
But categorizing audio-ok remains a challenge. Artwork and music of the second album "Dust" reveal a strange eroticism that is difficult to decipher, a fast vehicle between precision and dissonance.
Between the audible and the visual audio-ok's music demands feeling. Straight forward references in form of tone and sound. Whereto? Whereupon?
Here, the four Berliners are polarizing between those who have the receptor and those who have not.
