"Yorkshire Evening Post Preview"

"We'll probably be put in the Joy Division/Interpol category," says singer Caudwell of Huddersfield band Audit Control.
"That's what a lot of people compare us to. There's a touch of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs in the melodies.

"The comparisons tend to come because of my voice. It's a deep baritone that's Scott Walker/Ian Curtis-esque. They are big influences but it's melody – that's what we really go with."

The five-piece have been together for two years. They met at college through a shared love of music but, says Scott, it was "not until after leaving college that we decided to form a band".

They've performed extensively across the North of England and even made the occasional foray south. Recent shows in London and Brighton proved productive, says Scott. "We got a feel of how people like our music. We got a good response. The places we played are looking at getting us back."

To date the band have released one EP, To The Universe, which is available from local independent record stores or from iTunes.

On July 30 they play their biggest show yet in Leeds, at The Cockpit. "We've not played in Leeds for three months," says Scott. "It'll be good to go back there. We've got a lot of friends and fans there. It's going to be quite a big gig. We are headlining."

Support on the night comes from The Luminaries, Section II and TheMe.
Audit Control's next aim is to make another EP. "The last one was made in four days and was slightly rushed," says Scott. "We put it out ourselves. It's something we will do again and promote it independently. We hope to create a buzz by playing live.

"We'll make our second EP in October-November. Hopefully we will be able to spend a bit more time on it."

After that the two members of the band who have day jobs plan to take a sabbatical from work "to focus on the band".

"What started as a hobby has got quite big now," says Scott. "It's decision time."

"Blues Bunny Music"

...."Audit Control are a 5 piece band who, judging from these four songs, are trying to escape the confines of the indie rock genre in which they would otherwise be trapped.........you know the kind of thing I mean - there's a fair bit of pomp and swagger in the performance. Indeed, that is what sells these songs. Even on the Doors like "To The Universe", you are aware of a sense of theatre overwhelming the neo psychedelic groove of that song." .... "Organ Magazine"

"Rather good, rather deep-voiced, rather Wedding Present styled strident goodness, touch of I Like Trains about them, lot of good things about them. Rich vocals, strong voice, full sound – refined, restrained, feeling all of your embrace... Audit Control are from Huddersfield/Leeds, this is their rather confident debut four track EP. That 80’s alternative indie sound and all rather impressive. Strong vocals carry all before them, accessing all your boundaries, there to be pushed. Classic indie sound like you don’t really hear anymore, extremely impressive first release, well worth your time, they know know know, they feel feel feel... your shadow always grows, four rich songs, four rather strong songs, great singer, great band..." - Organ Magazine

Bio

We are Huddersfield based 5 piece auditCONTROL formed after years of acoustic medleys, boozy nights and travelling. We work and Rehearse from a church basement in the moors

We play alternative guitar based music with a Post-Punk feel to it. Although less suicidal. Our Debut EP recieved rave reviews recieving BBC Radio Leeds & BBC Radio Lancashire airplay. And positive feedback across music press both locally and nationally. From our first gig together in our local in 2009 and we embarked on our first UK tour in summer 2010 aswell as supporting King Charles, Hatcham Social, British Sea Power and The Sunshine Underground on various UK Tours

And we also hate everything Sonicbids stands for. The scamming of aspiring musicians, and commercialising everything, the million's of pounds you turn over. But seen as though there's no other way for upcoming bands of applying to festivals i guess our pants are already down to our ankles.
