"Radio City, July 6th -Audium"

First up we had Audium, playing acoustically in the absence of their drummer. Despite their onstage rumblings that what the audience was being treated to tonight wasn't quite the 'real' Audium experience, the short set they played still retained the power and musical presence we've come to expect from the full band. Audium are masters of build-ups and break-downs, and even with the acoustic treatment, nothing was lost. Another great thing about this band is that unlike many other acts, they were able to bring the crowd in on their onstage discussions about the running order and confusion arising from their impromptu and briefly rehearsed acoustic set. Other bands would have faltered and come across as unprofessional, but Audium, through John-Joes charisma and banter with the audience created an intimate atmosphere that kept the crowd with them all the way. Musically Audium stand out a mile from most of what's out there on the Dublin scene at the moment, their melodic and at time orchestral rock is certainly something unique. If you haven't seen this band before, be sure to check them out! - Dublin Underground

"Boom Boom Room, May 25th"

Last but not least we had our headlining band Audium. This was the second time I had seen the band and once again I enjoyed their performance. Its always nice to watch these guys perform as they make you feel like you are part of the band not just an audience member. Their song "House Arrest" is one of the best songs around at the moment. Musically it has everything you'd want: Violin, Piano, Drums and Guitar and originally Cello aswell. "Going Home" another very good song, sounds a little bit like the music from Donnie Darko with a slight hint of the eighties. John Joe puts a lot of emotion into what he does, both singing and playing. Dave liked drumming so much he kept joining in while John Joe was talking! Bazz played around by using a Heineken bottle on the strings and the lovely Eileen played the violin with a massive amount of passion. With the right fan base these guys and lady will make it big! - Dublin Underground

Bio

Audium are a 4 piece alternative rock/pop band who are currently based in Dublin,Ireland. They formed in November 2006 with their first live performance to a sold out crowd in Radio City, Dublin. Their music has been compared to everything from Ben Folds and The Fray to Muse. Sonically driving the group forward is John Joe Daly on Piano and main vocal. After years of classical playing, he has turned it into his own stlye which goes a long way in helping to make up the bands big sound. Barry ‘Buzz’ McGee’s (life long friend of JJ) creative approach to the electric guitar has also helped the band to stand out soniclly from their peers. His ability to produce unexpected sounds has in some ways saved Audium lots of time and money that would be otherwise invested in Synths. This style variation continues into the rythm section as well, with Dave Ivers being able to play drums and percussion in an etreemly musical complimentry fashion to each song. Alex Cecilia’s intimate relatiionship with the bass guitar and multicultural background has helped him to produce a truely provacative style which fills out the bands sound perfectly. Audium have played in some of Dublin’s top venues (including The Temple Bar Music Centre, Whelans, The Sugar Club, Eamon Dorans, Radio City, and Voodoo to name a few) and always manage to capture the audiences attention with their very intimate, involving stage presence. They have also been know to occasionally bring a small string section to their more acoustic gigs to reproduce some of their more delicate songs. Audium spend most of their time rehearsing and recording in their own studio space, where they recorded their debut single ‘Stop the Clocks’.
