Born in Montreal, Canada, Melissa Auf der Maur was raised with a fine arts and music education. Between 1994-1999, she was a member of Hole, and her participation as bass player and songwriter culminated in the album "Celebrity Skin" released in 1998. In 2000, she joined the Smashing Pumpkins for their farewell world tour. In 2004, "Auf der Maur", her first solo album, was released by Capitol Records / EMI worldwide. She has exhibited her photography in New York, Montreal and Tokyo and her photos have been published in magazines such as: Spin, Nylon, American Photo and Harper's Bazaar. Her new album, “Out of Our Minds” is a multi dimensional concept album, involving an Album, a Film and a Comic release TBA. The film was part of the official selection of the 2009 Sundance Film Festival.
