AUGUST GLORY

A year ago, two young New York City teens found that they had something in common: the love of writing music. The result was a soulful mix of folk and alternative rock reflecting the sounds of an earlier generation. Miranda Inzunza and Morgan Miller call their unique sound, acoustic folk pop rock, and their musical union, ‘August Glory’.

Today ‘August Glory’ presents their youthful portfolio of original songs at clubs throughout the New York, Queens and Brooklyn areas. They’re a welcome site at open mics, festivals, club gigs and battle of the bands. And the response to their music has been overwhelming attracting fans of all ages.

Growing up in musical families, the duo found themselves not only influenced by their contemporaries, the likes of John Mayer and Ingrid Michelson, but also artists of their parent’s generations, the likes of Cat Stevens and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Through their lyrics they explore both serious and playful themes, and they’re able to pull off the trick that all great pop music embodies – a sound that is elegantly crafted, deeply melodic and reflects a youthful innocence that is both endearing and refreshing. Their song “Someday Peace Will Come” has become a particularly requested title – a spirited anthem reflecting the “peace” chants of the 60s.

Miranda and Morgan have created a fan base that follows them as they appear at such New York clubs as Webster and Sullivan Hall, Crash Mansion, American Trash, The Sugar Bar and Waltz-Astoria. Their dream is to travel and share their personal music with audiences across America.

Miranda, 17, and Morgan, 15, met through a local rock school where they played everything from classic rock to heavy metal. Miranda, a senior at the Professional School of Performing Arts and Morgan, a sophomore at the Browning School, bring to their music an unusual mix of sophistication and acoustic simplicity, their melodies catchy and uplifting. The two seem to be breaking from the traditional style of music embraced by those of their age.
