He started on the acoustic guitar, studies piano and keeps the beat for himself on his pandeiro. He perfected his vocal technique with three years of study with the respected teacher and singer Clara Sandroni.
Augusto Martins’ first CD (1997 – Dabliú), has songs immortalized by Cartola, Luiz Melodia e Chico Buarque, and it was noticed by Beth Carvalho, João Nogueira, Velha Guarda da Mangueira, among other great names of the Brazilian music.
In his second CD (2002 – Dabliú) Augusto Martins works throughout the music of a fantastic composer in “Canta Djavan”. As the name of the CD says, he sings the legacy of Djavan, with special participations of João Donato, Leila Pinheiro, Beth Carvalho and Yamandú Costa. He was very complemented by the critics for inventively dealing with such a known artist.
In the third CD, “No Meio da Banda” (Fina Flor – 2006), meaning “in the middle of the band”, he shows up not only as a singer, but also as a composer. This work brings unknown songs from great composers in Brazilian music and from new rising ones: Ivan Lins, João Donato, Fátima Guedes, Moacyr Luz, Eduardo Gudin, Paulo César Pinheiro, Fred Martins, Elisa Lucinda and Mário Lago Filho. His right of passage to a new level as an artist.
Between 2003 and 2006 Augusto Martins was also included in five Brazilian music CDs that were launched in Japan, France and England.
He’s been performing mainly in the Rio-São Paulo circuit, as well as in Belo Horizonte and Brazília, supported by the musical direction of Túlio Feliciano.
