August Way, the band that brought you ‘Here Where You Are’, are kicking off 2007 by releasing a brand new single…

‘Beloved’, the second single from their acclaimed debut album ‘This Is The Other World’, delivers all the trademark August Way hooks and harmonies, exploding with the full force of a swirling string section – written and arranged by cellist Mobius and producer Phil Slade.

August Way’s previous single ‘Here Where You Are’ received high-rotation airplay on national radio and television, spending three weeks on the iTunes homepage and reaching No#15 on the Top 100 downloads. Last year the prolific songwriting duo were finalists in the MusicOZ Awards and the Australian Songwriters Association Awards, as well as being named one of the ‘Best New Artists of 2006’ in POPrepublic Magazine’s IT List alongside Panic! At The Disco and Wolfmother.

The August Way story goes like this… Mobius (cello/vocals) and Omen (guitar/vocals) both started playing and writing music from a very early age. Mobius studied classical music and jazz at the Conservatorium of Music and was one of the founding members of Brisbane band George, while Omen got his early musical influences listening to The Beatles and Crowded House. The two met at university and started writing songs together before forming August Way in 2004.

After releasing ‘This Is The Other World’ in August last year, the band - with Julian Porter on drums and Brendan Elliott on bass - embarked on a rigorous touring schedule during November and December, playing shows up and down the east coast. They took a break over Christmas to record and release the ‘Other Side of the World - Acoustic Sessions’ EP, unveiling four new songs as well as acoustic versions of some live favourites.

2007 will see August Way releasing the ‘Beloved’ single and video, directed by Craig Proudley (Butterfly Effect/Antiskeptic), shot inside a Castle near their home-base in Northern New South Wales. Later in the year the band will be hitting the road again for a National Tour - dates to be announced soon - and heading back into the studio with a whole stack of new songs to start work on their second album… One thing’s for sure, you’ll be hearing a lot more from August Way!
