The Way Demo (2006)

Feeling a bit camera shy

Auria Minus has something to offer anyone with any kind of musical appreciation. With such a large array of influence and experience, they come out swinging with an Alternative/Metal styling that poses a definite heavy weight contribution to the genre. Front man, Guy Johnson, AKA Gee Fontineau, previously of the band "Makeshift Grey", draws influence from: Maynard James Keenan (A Perfect Circle and Tool) Chino Moreno (Deftones) and Chad Gray (Mudvayne) just to name a few. He loves to push the boundaries of his own vocal limitations or in his own words " I want people to listen to the music and go to a live show and say "I don't know how he does that?" that would make my week I think...”

Next to very few Caleb Thacker, AKA Cobbs, previously of bands "Kneedlework" and "Unother", is considered a heavy hitter in the realm of guitar and it reflects greatly in his writing. Drawing influence from bands like (but not limited to): Meshuggah, Mr. Bungle, Nothingface and Down, he hopes to be seen as a visionary in the genre. The newest addition to the band is T.J Hanson. Previously of the band "Makeshift Grey", T.J. is the perfect mixture of technical and melody to create a mind bending blend and with the well rounded styling of Cobbs the layers are an endless possibility.

Richard Mendoza, AKA Bubba, plays like a man who has been locked up with a bass, an amp and no chance of parole. Previously of bands "Kneedlework" and "Unother" he draws influence from the likes of: Flea (The Red Hot Chili Peppers), Ryan Martini (Mudvayne) and Les Claypool, making it easy for even the most intermediate of spectators to recognize the talent and sound streaming from Bubbas fingers. The other half of percussion belongs to Gary Cordell, AKA Gurr. Previously of the bands "Scene Shifter" and "Two (0) Nine" This jazzy-metal driven drummer draws influence from: Matt McDonough (Mudvayne), Abe Cunningham (Deftones) and Chris Pennie (The Dillinger Escape Plan). With Bubba locking into Gurr's technical bass drum and jazzy symbol work, together they create an unstoppable percussion machine.

The band literally came together over night when Ricky, Gary and Caleb got together, via phone, and decided to start a project. Though Gary and Rick were up in the air about a singer, Caleb only had one in mind and so Auria Minus was born. Guy was immediately cast as singer and soon after T.J. was asked to join and add to an already talked about group of talent. But the question the band has received the most, you might be curious to know...........

"Why aren't you guys signed?"
