"Austin Basham - Running - Song of the day"

Our Song of the Day comes from Austin Basham, an independent folk singer songwriter from Austin, Texas. ‘Running’ is the first single to be released off of his upcoming EP ‘Hollow Head / Hollow Heart’ which was recorded in Oslo Norway with Digory Smallz, a producer based out of Vancouver BC.

What starts as just acoustic guitar, subtle harmonics and song, more akin to something from the 60′s folk revival (that’s a good thing) soon opens to a broader folk pop spectrum inviting in harmonies, banjo, percussion, brass and slide. It will hook you along for the ride. - Folk Radio UK

"This Is Our Jam: Cheerleader, Austin Basham, & Leikeli47 Get Their Groove On"

Austin Basham's voice is pure magic, and we're thrilled to premiere the first single from his upcoming EP, Hollow Head/Hollow Heart. The indie-folk singer's track "Running" is a beautifully calming piece of music that describes the indecisiveness that comes with personal relationships — something we've all related to at some point. We can't help but think about how his voice reminds us of Alexi Murdoch and Bob Dylan, and that's enough to get us hooked. - ILana Kaplan - Refinery29

"Currently Listening To: Austin Basham"

Austin Basham is an independent folk singer songwriter from Austin, Texas who is set to release his debut EP titled ‘Hollow Head / Hollow Heart’ this fall. The EP was recorded in Oslo Norway with Digory Smallz, a producer based out of Vancouver BC, after the two met online through twitter and eventually in person months later to record together. In the small town of Linton, Cambridgeshire, UK, the two spent many hours in an idyllic English home, burning wood to keep warm, while making final changes to the songs before heading into the Studio. Once in Norway, they put the tracks down at Subsonic Society in Oslo, while having Greg Calbi (Paul Simon, Bon Iver, John Lennon) master the EP at Sterling Sound.

Bio

Austin Basham is an independent folk singer songwriter from Austin, Texas.

His music draws influences from folk artists such as Johnny Flynn, Bob Dylan & Bon Iver, showcasing an imaginative range and combination of instruments that fuse together in an uncanny cohesion.  His lyrics & melodies, coupled with chillingly beautiful harmonies, offer a glimpse into the earnestness and candor of a twenty-something's navigation of life, love, and loss.

Basham is set to release his debut EP titled ‘Hollow Head / Hollow Heart’ this fall.  The EP was recorded in Oslo Norway with Digory Smallz, a producer based out of Vancouver BC.  The two met online through twitter, & over a period of 4 months and persistent communication, they decided to rendezvous and record the EP together.

They met in person for the first time in the small town of Linton, Cambridgeshire, UK.  They spent many hours in an idyllic English home, burning wood to keep warm, while making final changes to the songs before heading into the Studio.  Once in Norway, they hooked up with the guys at Subsonic Society, a studio in the heart of Oslo, used by other engineers such as Vance Powell (White Stripes, Beck).  Greg Calbi (Paul Simon, Bon Iver, John Lennon) mastered the EP at Sterling Sound.
Austin released his first single ‘Running’ in October 2014.
