Bio
If you ask him where is from, Austin Burns won’t have a straight answer for you. He’ll laugh and say, “I’m from around.” And that’s about as accurate as it gets. The 20-year-old musician has moved around his whole life, and has variously hung his hat in Texas, Kentucky, and even Costa Rica for a few years. Having returned to the state of his birth, he now resides in the Live Music Capital of America: Austin, TX.
As a child, Burns dreamed of playing professional baseball, but when an injury to his elbow kept him out of the game, he found a new vocation as a six-stringed storyteller. He learned to play guitar at age 10 and had already started writing songs by age 11. Despite starting at such a young age, Burns has musically maintained an old soul. Not one to be boxed in, he has developed an intimate style that blends elements of many genres, including folk and alternative rock, into something truly unique.
Influenced by the singer-songwriter folk revival of the last ten years, and artists like Damien Rice, Tracy Chapman, Tom Waits, Fink, Belle and Sebastian, Nick Cave, Laura Marling, and Bob Dylan, Burns has written well over a hundred songs and will continue to record and release them. But in the meantime, you can listen to his EP, "Do you Love Me?", check out his Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube pages, and look for him on the ATX stages.
